The lodge is accessible only by water, float plane or snowmobile, which ensures a very limited number of visitors per year, enhancing your truly remote wilderness experience. It offers all meals, comfortable log cabins, wood stoves, shower facilities, fire pit, generator supplied power, hi-speed internet, screened in deck overlooking the river, a central dining area, room for 10 to 12 guests and miles and miles of wilderness in the back yard : )

OUR SIGNATURE WILDERNESS ADVENTURE:
Spend 5 days and 4 nights in the remote pristine wilderness along the Athabasca River. This one of a kind wilderness adventure begins near the town of Athabasca when you board one of our Jet drive river boats to embark on an exciting 5 to 6 hour cruise down the majestic Athabasca River en route to our back-country lodge. This magnificent river cuts through hundreds of miles of unspoiled wilderness and breathtaking scenery and boasts an incredible range of large and small wildlife as well as countless species of waterfowl and birds of prey, providing endless photographic opportunities. Walk among the ruins of long forgotten historical places. Cast a line into one of the many, seldom fished tributaries for record sized Walleye and Northern Pike. Take a hike to witness the power of the remote and awe-inspiring Grand Rapids, located just a few miles below the lodge. Enjoy the evenings reconnecting with friends around a roaring campfire. Spend quiet times rekindling relationships in a cozy log cabin or simply find a space all your own. Individualized Packages may include:
Jet boat transportation from Poachers Landing to GRWA lodge and return, (over 10 hrs of cruising) A helicopter sightseeing tour with a set-down and guided hike of the historically significant Grand Rapids, 3 nights log cabin accommodations, home cooked meals, historical interpretive walk, nature walk through old growth forest or fossil dig, one evening or morning fishing trip to the House River. ATTENTION SNOWMOBILERS!
Ever wanted to visit one of Alberta's most isolated historical locations, which is also home to some of the best examples of massive spherical boulders found anywhere in Canada? You can accomplish this as well as discovering much more history of the Athabasca River by booking a wilderness snowmobile adventure with Grand Rapids Wilderness Adventures. Our backcountry cabins are located just a short distance from the Historic class VI Grand Rapids. The only way to reach this remote location in the winter time is by snowmobile. A plowed winter road/truck trail suitable for 4wd vehicles (access off of hi-way 63) will get you to our closest staging area which is less than 20 kms of the cabins.
