UPDATE: Declaration of Significant Weather Event ENDED

February 21, 2025, 11:42am - The Declaration of Significant Weather Event has now ended. Staff have made significant progress on side roads, opening sidewalks and removing accumulated banks which impaired sight lines on roads and highways. Thank you for your patience while our team worked to return roads and sidewalks to an acceptable winter state since the declaration was made on February 12, 2025.

On February 12, 2025, the Town of Bancroft declared a Significant Weather Event pursuant to Section 16.9 Ontario Regulation 239/02 as amended.

The Town declared a significant weather event in response to the first of two significant winter storms which have impacted our community in the past several days. Town staff are working hard to clear snow but the significant accumulations and weather conditions are making it difficult to maintain roads and sidewalks to the minimum standards set out by the Province of Ontario in O. Reg 239/02.

Plows have cleared and opened all roads in the municipality at this time however, some roads are narrower than usual and some sight lines may be obstructed by accumulated snow banks. Most sidewalks have also been cleared however snowbanks along the sidewalks may still result in some impassible sections, particularly in the vicinity of Bridge Street East and Sherbourne Street North.

Providing for the safety of the travelling public is a responsibility that out staff take seriously and we appreciate your patience and understanding as they complete their work. Please use extra caution if you must travel until snow clearing operations on our roads and sidewalks are completed. Parking areas will be cleared once the declaration is lifted and we can once again meet the minimum standards for snow clearing on our roads and sidewalks.
