On this travel advisor day I want to take a minute to recognize some of the amazing people in the travel community! because community over competition above all is what makes all of us successful!
If you know any advisors you’ll know what the last year looked like for them, and if you don’t, let me tell you!
✈️ Cancelled 6-10 months worth of work & holidays (imagine designing 200 websites, then deleting them all)
✈️ Spent weeks organizing rescue flights for any and all travellers (because many people couldn’t get through their online booking source)
✈️ Took the brunt end of traveller frustrations (because someone had to get yelled at)
✈️ Advocated for over a year for your refunds (because we wanted you to get the refunds as much as you did)
✈️ Changed, cancelled and changed more travel
✈️ Issued thousands of refunds (because we know you were owed those funds)
✈️ All while salaries got slashed or became non-existent (because all those cancelled bookings often don’t pay us unless you travel)
✈️ Deciphered some of the most complex entry and exit requirements (because this has never ever happened)
✈️ Continue to work for little to no compensation (because no travel = no compensation)
✈️ Spent endless hours in meetings to continue advocating for refunds and protections (because even after a year we knew you were owed those refunds)
✈️ Continue advocating to save the tourism industry and reopening of the market (because we want to see you travel again!
And why did they do it, and more importantly why do they continue to do it?
Because...
✨ They love their jobs
✨ They love their clients
✨ They love travel
✨ They love the tourism community
✨ They love making your travel dreams come true
So there- If you got through that, show a little love to an advisor you know, because everyone deserves a little appreciation!

Here are some tips to be a more mindful traveller and be as sustainable as possible on your future adventures.
These small things can go a very long way!

✨ Choose a travel brand that is dedicated to sustainability such as @intrepidtravel and @gadventures
✨Choose activities and tours that will benefit the local community and economy that is also committing to sustainability
✨Be conscious of what you leave behind and take anything that may no be disposed of properly
✨ When travelling to poorer nations, research to see if there is anything you can bring that may be valuable to others that may have found its way to the trash at home
✨reuse your towels and bedsheets during your hotel stays
✨ Bring your own refillable drink cup and straws to resorts instead of using single use plastics
✨buy local handmade souvenirs vs made in China mass produced items
✨ bring your own reusable bags
