This weeks’ trip is the Ottawa River. So far 3 of us are going.
Drive day is Monday to Hawkesbury, and meet for dinner. The better wind and weather day is Tuesday so we would go to Montreal and have lunch there. Back to Hawkesbury for another overnight and do Ottawa the next day.
There is a 30% chance of rain sometime on Wednesday, but I predict it would be in the afternoon/evening given the forecast for Wednesday night and Thursday. I would still have rain gear onboard for Wednesday. Worst case it turns sour by Wednesday morning, we can just go home.
The launch point for both rides: Ile du Chenail Boat Launch - 2 John St, Hawkesbury, ON K6A 1X3
Ride Time Tuesday: 9:00 to 9:30 am
Ride Time Wednesday: probably 9:00 am
We would check out Wednesday morning, do the ride, load up and drive to Gananoque or Kingston have a nice dinner there and stay overnight. This part of the plan is optional of course.
Hawkesbury Hotel for Sept 4 and 5: Quality Inn and Suites - 1575 Tupper St., Hawkesbury, ON K6A 3T5 613-632-5941

Please RSVP asap.

Don't leave Monday morning without checking Facebook and/or website for any cancellations. If no post then we are a go.

Had a great ride again on Georgian Bay out of Waubaushene. 7 machines and 8 riders. Lunch at Henry's on San Souci, of course. Hit the Moon River Falls and Go Home Bay on the way back. Scott was kind enough to use his Relive app to record the trip. Such cool software! Scott Findlay

A great ride was had by all on Six Mile Lake and lower Georgian Bay

07/31/2023

Tuesday August 1st Ride.

For Tuesday, we are going to try last week's planned ride. Six Mile Lake and some lower Georgian Bay.

Six Mile Lake Marina has a government dock and parking...so free. It's at the bottom of Six Mile Lake. That will be the morning's ride. We'll pull out before lunch and head over to Honey Harbour.

We can launch at Honey Harbour Boat Club Marina which is $30 bux for launch and park. It's a 17 minutes drive from the Six Mile Lake launch point. From there we can go around the corner and eat at the Delawana Inn at their beachside patio called Fin City Fish and Chips ( https://fincityfishandchips.ca/ ) then go out of Honey Harbour our usual way but stay in and around the islands of the Musquash Channel.

This would be an easy flat ride in the morning. The winds will pick up after lunch so there is no plan to go out in Georgian Bay proper...only the inner channels where it's protected. There are some areas that we normally blow right past that may be interesting, especially for future trips.

Meet Time: 9:00 - 9:15 am
Ride Time 9:30 am
Launch: 104 Vollicks Rd, Port Severn, ON (Six Mile Lake Marina) http://www.sixmilelakemarina.com/

Part 2: Honey Harbour Boat Club Marina 2709 Honey Harbour Rd, Honey Harbour, ON

Please RSVP.

June 20th, 2023

The ride for this Thursday, June 22nd is the Trent Severn Waterway out of Sparrow Lake. Meet time is 8:30. The locks open at 9:00am and we all have to get our passes. Some members have to leave a bit early so we’ll see how the day goes. Lunch is in Port Severn, probably at The Galley.

Launch: Lauderdale Marina and Resort: 3500 Lauderdale Point Crescent, Severn Bridge, ON P0E 1N0

All are welcome but please RSVP

So this is interesting. For those who have thought about a "trailer" to drag behind a PWC, the options seemed limited in what you could buy and how well they worked. Then, I came across Jet Tech from Gold Coast, Australia, which sells rescue boards attached to PWCs. https://jettech.com/collections/board-accessories/products/jet-ski-rescue-sled
Many companies sell rescue boards, especially near surfing areas, for dragging people in and out of the big waves. The cool part is, in their promotional video, Jet Tech mentioned a new way to use them....camping trailers! Hmm.... They even sell a huge waterproof bag (180 litres) that clips into the board. It takes the weight off the machine, so, in theory, it should handle better, especially in rougher water. The design look really good.

The board from Jet Tech is $995 AUD, and the bag is $195 AUD. After doing some digging, I found the exact board on Alibaba (different colour scheme) for $255 plus shipping each if you buy 2. The bag you can buy from Amazon from 100L to 155L. A 100L dry duffle bag is $108 CAN. It makes this setup about 1/3 of the cost from a retailer.

I've purchased $1000s of dollars worth of products from Alibaba and I've had all good experiences. They will probably use DHL so there might be some Duty charged at the Canadian border.

As the summer Seadoo touring season approaches, I'm excited to get my new machine and try some new products.
