Our farming is informed by systems and landscape ecology. We graze cattle using planned grazing techniques on private land and conservation land. We steward the land with the objective of creating healthy land & soils, healthy animals and good food. We direct market our products to Winnipeg, Brandon and surrou

Sunday cattle drive.

Spent these last days driving down to South Dakota for Ranching/Land Management gathering put on my the World Wildlife Fund in Spearfish South Dakota. This was a very inspiring, forward thinking and welcoming group of ranchers from across the Dakotas, Montana, Colorado and Wyoming.

I am now back on the farm and Friday we will be prepping orders for this weekends delivery. See you all soon!

How do you like to eat your eggs? Anyone else love to use a Eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacher; in German, eierschale means “eggshell,” sollbruchstelle means “predetermined breaking point,” and verursacher means “cause.”

I started eating soft boiled eggs again just so I could use this tool.

Thank you all for coming out to our Winnipeg delivery today. It was a nice warm day & it was great to see you all. we appreciate you very much.

We will see you all again in Winnipeg at Canadian Mennonite University 2:30-4:00 pm August 3rd, 17th and 31st and Thursday August 8th at River Heights CC 3-4pm and 5-6pm at the Unitarian Church in Wellington Crescent.

Last night 10pm. Pasture walk. Dew point and dragon flies.

A video from last year of the henhouse in motion.

Automated egg picker table hooked up on the portable pasture henhouse. Now we can sit in the roofed workstation, or as our farm help calls it, the work patio, and pick eggs. It runs on a generator (it is - bit loud). Wian has his mind set on a solar conversion to run the picker table and feed hoppers out on pasture. For now we are levelling up with Bluetooth/radio ear protection. Everyone is excited about the new ear protection and deciding what radio station they are are going to listen to.

Hens are back inside for the winter.

Feeding a group of piggies! Soon our biotech shelter will be ready for little pigs and the big pigs will have the bush all to themselves. The plan is to raise the little pigs under shelter and then move them to bush once they are a little bigger.
