A one bedroom self-contained waterfront suite where your view looks out to Deep Bay & the mighty spruce tree where majestic fish eagles perch on top patiently waiting with eagle eyes ready to catch their prey; & where brightly coloured rainbows glorify the sky. Deep Bay Retreat is ideal for a couple, or a family of 4, where the view from a queen size bed looks out to the bay. This self-contained
unit has a well equipped kitchen, a dining room with oak dining table and 6 chairs, in case you have visitors, a full bath/shower. In the living room there is a comfy spring mattress hideaway couch & a 40" Internet TV. If eating outside is preferred there is a patio with patio table and chairs, and gas BBQ. The suite is situated on the lower level of our house and has its own private entrance. This little hideaway on Vancouver Island is about a 50 minute drive north from the Nanaimo ferry and about 45 minutes south from Comox airport. Deep Bay is in an area known as Lighthouse Country and famous for fresh oysters and clams, and where many activities can be enjoyed in and around the area whether it is summer or winter time. The ocean is at the bottom of the garden where kayaks, row boats, canoes and paddle boards can easily be launched; next door is a boat launch for larger boats. Right across the bay is a sandy beach playground that triples in size depending on the moon cycle, where swimming, beach-combing, castle building, photography, painting, are just samplings of what can be enjoyed. A pleasant walk leads to the Deep Bay Marine Field Station famous for their" High Tea by the Sea" and their Grey Whale exhibit. Fishing for salmon & cod is but steps away where Van Isle's charters await. Enchanting walking/hiking & biking trails are close by waiting to be discovered. A visit to the famous Horne Lake Caves is a half hour drive inland. Numerous unique and artistic treasure stores are an extravaganza adventure into Bowser, Coombs, & Qualicum Beach. The Wildlife Recovery Centre and the Butterfly & Orchid world are all in a day’s adventure where one can visit and have some fun. Heading north guarding over us all is the majestic Mount Washington where hikers and photographers are free to wander her range when her snow cloak has melted, and winter months are a skier’s delight. At the end of the day, right next door at "Ship & Shore" is where the best fish and chips & burgers can be savoured, or if preferred to start the day with coffee and a full breakfast. An early morning or evening stroll can be enjoyed around the docks down at the marina as fishermen and sailors busy themselves with their tasks, and seals and otters hang around in hopes of easy morsels. With gentle waves lapping at the bottom of the garden and vibrant mesmerizing sunsets setting for the day, under the trees lays a hammock, gazebo & fire pit allowing for quiet contemplation and reflection. As darkness descends, clear skies allow the heavens to twinkle and wink down at us as Deep Bay quietens and the only sounds around are the wildlife calling and occasional conversations carried on the wind. Just a little tasting of what can be enjoyed while staying at this sweet retreat in charming Deep Bay. Any questions you may have, just send me a message.
