Deskaheh weaves the profound story of Haudenosaunee leader Deskaheh Levi General’s travels from Six Nations of the Grand River to the League of Nations between 1923 and 1925, where he sought to gain international recognition of the Haudenosaunee's sovereignty. Co-created by Allan Downey, and McMaster students Tekenikhon Doreen, Jersee Hill, and Kira Gibson, the animated short Deskaheh is the result of an Indigenous youth mentorship program at McMaster University, which empowers Indigenous youth to create digital animations that bring Indigenous histories to life for public education.

Our Story

Established in 1995, Six Nations Tourism manages two historical sites, a park and convention centre within our community and is a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) for the most populated First Nation in Canada. Six Nations Tourism is dedicated to educating visitors, marketing and promoting small businesses, events, sites and attractions in order to vitalize economic growth throughout Six Nations of the Grand River.

Geographically located just outside the Greater Golden Horseshoe, we are situated on the Grand River – a Canadian Heritage River which is synonymous with the rich history of the Six Nations and located within one of the last remaining Carolinian forests.

Come visit and #SeeSixNations.
