I have decided not to continue Get Hooked South Shore Guide Service in 2025.

My objective in 2020 when I started the service was to be able to get people out on the water that otherwise may not have the ability or opportunity.

With an abundance of guides in the province I feel there is plenty of availability for anyone who may be seeking this service.

I want to thank the clients I met over the last few years who chose our service and to all that followed and supported the page.

And to Ashley for creating a great logo and putting together a cool website!

If you are seeking a guide please feel free to reach out and I will be glad to direct you to one!

The page and website will be up until December 31st.

Today I had three generations of anglers out on the water.

I want to thank Lindsay, her dad Wayne and her son Jaxson for joining me today.

Lindsay and her dad fished from their family boat and Jaxson joined me on my boat.

A cold start to the morning but we managed to find a school of decent smallies and land a couple bass on this beautiful fall day!

Thanks again guys for travelling down from Sackville!

Our equipment!

We can accommodate up to two anglers with our 16’ aluminum outboard from Polar Kraft Boats. Factory installed casting deck allows for a comfortable platform to ensure balance and cast accuracy.

Powered by a fuel efficient 15HP motor from Mercury Marine we can reach our favourite fishing holes without losing valuable time.

We also use an electric trolling motor from Minn Kota to maneuver the boat which eliminates the need for always relying on the gas motor and spooking our target fish.

You are welcome to use our supplied casting and spinning rods and artificial baits. If you choose to bring your own fishing equipment we have the room for that too.

In April I will be joined by fellow angler and licensed guide Larry Nickerson, as he brings a new addition to Get Hooked South Shore Guide Service which will serve double duty as tournament boat and guide boat as we bring more options to our service.

We look forward to the new fishing season and getting you on the water!

Lake Profile:

Pernette Lake

Pernette Lake is located in Lake Centre, Lunenburg County Nova Scotia. It is approximately 12 minutes from the town of Bridgewater.

A smalll body of fresh water that is about 90.2ha or 223ac in size. It is a shallow lake reaching a maximum depth of approximately 25 feet.

Fish species include smallmouth bass, speckled trout and an abundance of yellow perch which keep the bass well fed, feisty and give an angler a good fight!

It is a lake we visit often throughout the season both for our own recreation and to entertain clients.

Minimal boat traffic, adequate boat launch and parking for two or three vehicles with trailer.

We are taking bookings now for Pernette and we will feature some of the other lakes we visit in future post.

2023 proved to be a successful year for our guide service. We saw clients from local parts of Nova Scotia, from Western Canada, the United States and from Switzerland.

It was my pleasure to show you some south shore bass fishing and a few of the many fresh water lakes in our area.

2023 also saw the launch of our website, in large part to the talents of graphics designer, Ashley Specht. Thank you Ashley.

We look forward to promoting the bass fishery in 2024 and excited to share the passion of fishing with others.

It was a privilege to get Colin and his daughter out on Wentzells Lake today. They both caught some nice fish and the weather cooperated for us as well. Such a great time of year to be chasing smallmouth. Thanks again!

Side note:

Colin and I were discussing how smallmouth don’t seem to use lumber in Nova Scotia like you think they would. Colin managed a beautiful 3.72lbs smallie off some fallen lumber shortly after this discussion. I think I was excited as he was to see our theory debunked!

I want to thank Sherrie and Ernie King for joining me this morning to chase some smallmouth bass.

They run their own outfitting and guide service in Franklin, North Carolina and are here in the maritimes vacationing for the first time.

Ernie and I will be heading out again tomorrow morning.

It was a true pleasure meeting you both. Now I know where to go when I’m in North Carolina!
