If you travel at all then you NEED to buy a luggage scale! They are not very expensive and could actually save you money in the end by helping you avoid overweight luggage fees.

I personally have a digital luggage scale and it is hands down one of my best travel related buys. I always bring my scale with me.

I use it at home first when packing for my trip to make sure that I am under the allowable luggage weight. It's easy, provides an accurate weight and certainly beats lifting my luggage onto a regular scale and then trying to balance it to hopefully get an accurate read.

Digital scales are small and compact enough that you can slip it into your luggage or carry on without it really taking up any precious packing space.

And if you like to shop while on vacation, whether its for souvenirs or anything else you may buy while away, then you know that you may run the risk of going over the allowed luggage weight when travelling back home because of the extra items in your luggage.

But if you have your luggage scale packed with you then you'll always know where you stand with your luggage weight and can make any necessary adjustments before you get to the airport in order to avoid any expensive over weight fees that the airlines charge.

If you don't already have a luggage scale then I definitely highly recommend getting one before your next trip!

Today is a special Sunday as it’s my sons Baptism, the day he starts his journey with God. As a Catholic, this day represents the official entry into the Church and the start of a commitment with God.

It’s an important day for us and my husband and I are over the moon excited for our son to join us in our faith 🙏🏼

This simple and easy tip can go a long way especially since you may not always have access to data on your phone (that is if you even bring your phone when travelling abroad) or you may not always be able to find someone who speaks English.

Having something written in the local language will help to avoid any miscommunications about where you are going so you don't end up stuck or lost somewhere while you are out for the day!

Anytime I visit a new city, I love starting with a big bus tour. I think its the perfect way to get a great overview of the most important landmarks in the city. And, once you do the complete tour, you'll know if there are any stops that you want to go back to and explore further! Not only is a great because you don't have to worry about transportation when you are sightseeing but it also provides you with a historical narrative of where you are visiting. And the tour cost is usually pretty cheap too.

It's also great when you don't have a lot of time to sight-see. If you're only in a destination for a few days, the tour allows you to see all of the best landmarks in a short amount of time. And since you have the control to get off or stay on the bus, you can eliminate a stop that you may decide you don't want to visit after all.

For those that are not familiar with a hop on hop off tour the concept is simple. The bus travels from landmark to landmark, picking up and dropping off passengers at each landmark stop. You pay a flat rate to ride the bus for 24 hours (some may offer multiple days) and you have the ability to get on and off the bus as many times or at any of the stops along the bus route as you want.

Most major destinations will have multiple bus tours available and most will include the same sights with perhaps a slightly different route with potentially a closer stop to your hotel. Its always best to research what is available prior to travelling as you may even save on your ticket by purchasing in advance. Or you can always speak to guest services at your hotel for help on how to book a tour.

Sightseeing can be overwhelming....you're in a city you're not familiar with, with possibly a foreign language you don't speak and there are a ton of places to check out.....where do you even start! A hop on hop off may be exactly what you need!

And of course, you can always check with your travel agent on the best tours available at your destination!

They can also be worn in the shower or even onto your hotel room balcony/patio.

Flip flops take up virtually no space in your luggage and they can easily be tucked into any nook and cranny in your bag or luggage or I tuck them into the zippered pockets of my luggage.
And they will definitely come in handy!

I usually like to take at least 3; one pair to wear as slippers in the room, one pair for the pool and an extra in case one of the other pairs breaks. If I'm travelling to a beach destination, then its usually more like 6 pairs! I like to keep my outer and indoor flip flops separate, especially beach ones because its never fun getting sand all over your hotel room floor!

I try to stock up when old navy has their $1 flip flop sales, that way I'm not breaking the bank and I'm ready to go for the next trip!

While it's definitely important to make sure your passport has not expired PRIOR to going on your trip, its just as important to make sure that it is still valid PAST your return date as well!

Did you know that a country can refuse your entry if your passport is not valid long enough after your return date!??

As a general rule, it's always best to make sure that your passport is valid for at least 6 months past your return date. Each country though has their own requirement therefore it is always best to check.

www.travel.gc.ca is a great source for travellers. It is a Canadian government website that includes all pertinent information for Canadians wanting to travel and for those wanting to travel to Canada.

Under TRAVEL ADVICE/ADVISORIES, you can find out the entry/exit requirements including how long your passport needs to be valid for every single country. In addition there is information about each country's safety & security, health, laws & regulations, etc.

It is a GREAT resource for any traveller and I HIGHLY recommend bookmarking the website.

Of course, you can also ask your travel agent and they will gladly help you with any of the above information! 😁

Unless of course that dress is a "vacation" dress and you do actually wear it while away!

Side note....do you have "vacation" clothes?
You know, clothing that you would not wear in your day to day life but have put aside for the glory days of vacay??
Maybe its a bright colourful dress perfect for the tropics or a cozy turtleneck sweater perfect for that ski vacay...
I have a rubbermaid full of them 🤦‍♀️ and yes I do wear them!

ANYWAY....getting back to today's tip...

I'm not talking about vacation clothes but rather the other clothes that you have hung on to and never wear.....like never.......like never ever.......................ever.
THOSE clothes! The 'never ever' clothes sure are tempting to pack but don't do it! Honestly, if you haven't worn it in forever then you're not going to wear it while you're on vacation. It'll just take up space in your luggage...space that you can use for clothes you'll actually wear or for extra souvenirs!

The best way to eliminate the Never Evers from getting in your luggage is to:
1.) think about where you are going and what you will be doing
2.) think about which clothing you love and feel comfortable in
3.) make sure #1 and #2 match and mesh meaning the clothes you pack make sense for where you are going and what you are doing

I personally start to think about what clothes to pack as soon as I book my trip! That way I have time if I need to go and buy something that I'm missing AND I will have time to adjust and readjust my wardrobe.

I usually start to make a pile of what I want to bring a few weeks before my departure date. As I get closer to the day, I will go through my pile and think about my trip and then add and remove pieces as necessary. This also helps w**d out the 'never ever' clothes from the pile just in case they got in there!

As someone who used to always over pack, this method has worked wonders and I pack wayyyyy better now because of it!

Best part is....NO MORE NEVER EVERS!
