Did you know Black Timbers Getaway is eco-friendly?? We now have our solar panels and battery generator backup installed and working!! ☀️☀️ This also means that you won't lose power ever during your stay.

Another amazing feature is our electric car charger!

But wait, there's more...we have starlink high speed internet. It's great to get away from technology, but if you need to access anything during your stay, you know it won't be slow to view.

Dogs are allowed with some rules : pick up p**p, not allowed on furniture, clip nails before arrival

Welcome to Black Timbers Getaway! We hope this page will provide you with all the information you need to see if this is the vacation home rental for you. Some basic info:

November-May requires a minimum 3 night booking.

June-October requires a minimum 1 week booking.

Checkin is anytime after 4pm on date of arrival and checkout is by 11am on date of departure.

Pricing: on average $300/night plus tax, $350 cleaning fee plus tax (please see information regarding this fee), $500 security deposit (which will be returned if no damage to the property or equipment has been incurred during your stay)

Feel free to message us, and we are sure we can accommodate if special circumstances are needed for amount of dates/smaller cleaning fee with less bedding used etc.

Interesting features with the house include:
- Steam room in the upstairs bathroom
-Starlit ceiling in the kid's room (on a timer). They can fall asleep to the stars!

Why The Name?

Multiple reasons:
1. This used to be the blacksmiths home. We found multiple horse shoes when we were digging in the back yard. Also, we were so excited to uncover the fireplace which had been closed up in the wall...found out it was facing outside towards the backyard where the blacksmith would work.

2. There were a couple of large fires in Calabogie which destroyed a lot of homes. This home is one of the few which survived.

3. The house is situated right by the locks. Men would bring huge logs of wood down the river and stop at the locks for a break before going on with their load.

Sleeping arrangements:
Rustic Room: Queen bed - room for playpen and chair available to nurse/sit

Children's Room: 2 single beds (bunk bed), 2 toddler/junior beds (bunk bed), crib

Wood Room: Queen bed

European Room: King bed

If you can let us know which room(s)/bed(s) you will be using during your stay, it would help us greatly to plan for your arrival and reduce any unneeded linen use.

Pricing Q & A:
Q: Is the pricing $300/night plus tax year round?
A: Average booking fee is $300 plus tax. But during peak times can be up to $375 plus tax. And in slow periods $275/night plus tax.

Q: Is there a discount for a weekly rental?
A: Yes, for a week and above, please message for details.

Q: What is the security deposit?
A: $500 is given initially to protect the house from damages which may incur during your stay. We have also provided the use of extra items (BBQ - coming soon, kayak, skates, Netflix/Disney+/Prime, DVDs, etc.) It will be returned to you within 5 days of your departure if there has been no damage.

Q: What is up with the steep cleaning fee?
A: We have hired a reputable cleaning company to come in to do a thorough cleaning between each rental for your safety and the safety of the following renters. The current estimated cleaning time for a house this size is 8 hours. During this time of Covid-19, extra precautions must be taken to ensure the cleaning is done properly and requires extra time. The amount of linen from 7+ beds also contributes to the length of cleaning time. Should less beds be required for use, it may be a potentially shorter time to clean and reduce the fee. If you can choose the rooms you will be using before your stay, we can cut down on the linen and possibly send you a rebate with your security deposit if there is one.
The cleaning fee remains the same no matter the length of your stay. It, therefore, works to your advantage if you stay for a week versus a weekend.
