“I stayed here with my family (5 people) of all ages, and I speak for everyone..the place was impeccable in all respects! Comfortable and cozy with all the amenities we needed for our stay. Super clean and well organized. I am a cold sleeper so having AC was a plus plus for me. Madeleine has been a wonderful host and very helpful with anything we needed during our stay. I couldn’t recommend to stay here highly enough for a pleasant stay during your visit to the Rockies!”

Larch season in Canmore is an exceptional time for hiking to watch golden transformation of larch trees. Unlike most conifers, Larches are deciduous, meaning they lose their needles in the fall. Before shedding, their needles turn a brilliant golden-yellow, creating breathtaking scenery that transforms the mountains into a shimmering, golden landscape.

This short-lived but stunning display occurs around mid-September to early October. Popular hikes like Pocaterra Ridge, Chester Lake, and Ptarmigan Cirque offer excellent opportunities to see the golden larches. “We stayed at 4 different airbnbs during our vacation and this was by far our favorite. In fact, we cancelled dinner plans one night because we were all excited to just relax at the condo. We had a couple questions about the thermostat late at night and Madeline got back to me in a matter of minutes (if not seconds). The beds were comfortable and my kids fought over who got to sleep on the pull out sofa bed because it was so comfortable… that was a first! Would stay here again in a heartbeat!”

“We had a great stay in Canmore - Madeleine was very helpful and sent lots of information prior to our stay. We found the check-in easy and the location was very convenient with shops, restaurants etc. within easy reach. The apartment was spacious and well-equipped with all basics required. It was also great to have the use of the Banff park pass and we visited Lake Louise etc whilst we were there.”

Just an hour’s drive from Banff, Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park, British Columbia, is a hidden treasure! Visitors are drawn to its vibrant turquoise waters and lush mountain backdrop, offering a serene and less crowded atmosphere compared to Banff. Adventure enthusiasts can enjoy a variety of activities, including canoeing across the tranquil waters, hiking the scenic Emerald Lake Loop, and spotting local wildlife like moose and bald eagles. The lake is also a photographer’s haven, with stunning reflections and colors that are perfect for capturing memorable shots.

Emerald Lake’s proximity to other attractions, such as the Natural Bridge and Takakkaw Falls, makes it an ideal day trip destination. After a day of exploration, you can dine at the historic Emerald Lake Lodge, which offers delicious meals with breathtaking views.

To get there, take a scenic 1-hour drive from Banff via Trans-Canada Hwy/AB-1 W. Canoe rentals are available on-site from late June to September.
