Pat McFarlane Cancer Research Foundation

Pat McFarlane Cancer Research Foundation The PMCRF was established in 2005 to both honour Pat McFarlane and to help conquer cancer. In 1995, Pat McFarlane was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

She became an inspiration to everyone she knew by continuing to live each day to the fullest and always being there for her family, including her husband and five children. She would continue to help her kids with homework, take them on trips, and visit with friends and family. Pat was always the life of the party until the day she passed away. Sadly, on October 22nd, 2000, at the young age of for

ty, Pat passed away. She was surrounded by her five children, her husband and numerous other family members. Pat’s strength in her five year battle with cancer gave everyone hope and showed friends and family to never give up. In the year 2005, family members knew the best way to pay tribute to Pat was to start the Pat McFarlane Cancer Research Foundation; it was a way to help others affected by cancer and to help find a cure for this horrible disease. Now in its sixth year, The Pat McFarlane Cancer Research Foundation is still run by Pat’s family. Her only daughter, Aimee McFarlane, is the current President of the foundation. A golf tournament that coincides with Pat’s Birthday and the annual Gala that happens around the date she passed away has helped raised thousands of dollars for cancer research. The Foundation is now Alberta’s second largest independently organized fundraiser.
