NO MORE CARRY ON

Air Canada is making some changes for baggage policy in the new year, with the biggest change being no more carry-on baggage allowed for those travelling on a basic ticket to certain locations.

Any traveller who books an economy basic fare with Air Canada on or after Jan. 3, 2025, will no longer be able to bring anything but a personal item if travelling within Canada, to and from the U.S. — including Hawaii and Puerto Rico —` and to and from Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

The change only applies to those travelling within these regions.

Air Canada notes economy basic passengers connecting onto an international destination will still be able to keep that carry-on with them.

As well, those who are Aeroplan Elite Status and Star Alliance Gold members will still be able to bring on board a carry-on and will still have free checked baggage as well. Those with an Aeroplan Premium credit card will also be able to access various benefits such as a free checked bag.

تُدخل الخطوط الجوية الكندية بعض التغييرات على سياسة الحقائب في العام الجديد، وأبرزها إلغاء حق الأمتعة المحمولة على متن الطائرة للمسافرين الذين يحجزون التذاكر الاقتصادية الأساسية إلى بعض الوجهات.

لن يتمكن أي مسافر يحجز تذكرة اقتصادية أساسية مع الخطوط الجوية الكندية في أو بعد 3 يناير 2025 من حمل أي شيء سوى الأمتعة الشخصية إذا كان يسافر داخل كندا أو إلى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية - بما في ذلك هاواي وبورتوريكو - وإلى ومن المكسيك وأمريكا الوسطى ومنطقة البحر الكاريبي.

لا ينطبق التغيير إلا على المسافرين داخل هذه المناطق.

تلاحظ الخطوط الجوية الكندية أن المسافرين الاقتصاديين الأساسيين الذين يتصلون بوجهة دولية سيظلون قادرين على الاحتفاظ بالأمتعة المحمولة معهم.

بالإضافة إلى ذلك، سيظل أعضاء برنامج الولاء "إيروبلان إيلت ستاتوس" وأعضاء تحالف ستار العالمي قادرين على حمل الأمتعة المحمولة على متن الطائرة وسيظلون يتمتعون بحق الأمتعة المسجلة المجانية. كما سيتمكن حاملو بطاقة ائتمان بريميوم إيروبلان من الوصول إلى مزايا مختلفة مثل حقيبة أمتعة مسجلة مجانية.

أعلن الاتحاد الأوروبي عن إطلاق نظام الدخول والخروج الجديد (EES) في 10 نوفمبر المقبل، وهو خطوة مهمة ستغير تجربة السفر إلى دول شنغن، بما في ذلك للمسافرين من الدول العربية.

وأوضحت إيلفا جوهانسون، مفوضة الشؤون الداخلية بالاتحاد، أن هذا النظام الرقمي سيجعل إجراءات الدخول إلى أوروبا أكثر سهولة وسلاسة.

‎سيتم رقمنة إجراءات استخراج تأشيرة “شنغن” بالكامل، حيث ستستبدل الملصقات الورقية التقليدية بأخرى إلكترونية مرتبطة بجواز السفر. سيمكن هذا التغيير المسافرين من تحميل وثائقهم، إدخال بياناتهم البيومترية، ودفع الرسوم عبر منصة إلكترونية موحدة، مما سيقلل من الجهد والتكلفة ويوفر تجربة أسرع وأكثر كفاءة.
‎هذا النظام سيطبق على جميع المسافرين من خارج الاتحاد الأوروبي، الذين يزورون دول شنغن للإقامة القصيرة.

The European Union announced the allocation of the new Entry-Exit System (EES) on November 10, an important step that will change the travel experience to the Schengen countries, including travelers from Arab countries.

The conclusion of Ylva Johansson, the EU Commissioner for Home Affairs, is that this digital system will make entry records easier and smoother.

The optional “Schengen” procedures will be completely digitized, as traditional stickers will be replaced by electronic ones for the travel passport. This diversity will enable uploading their documents, diversifying their biometric data, and subscribing frames via a unified electronic platform, which will reduce effort and cost and become faster and more efficient.
This system applies to all publications issued from outside the European Union, which visit countries for short periods of time.

The European Commission announced on Friday that restrictions on liquids in hand luggage will be reintroduced at European Union airports from September
1. The temporary measures will require all liquids, gels, pastes and aerosols to be less than 100ml and placed in a clear plastic bag before passing through airport security at any EU airport.
This decision marks a reversal of the recent relaxation of liquid restrictions at airports that had installed new-generation C3 scanning equipment for hand luggage. The new regulations will apply uniformly across EU airports, including those with Explosive Detection Systems for Cabin Baggage (EDSCB), which had previously allowed travellers to carry liquids exceeding 100ml.
In addition to the liquid restrictions, the Commission outlined guidelines for cabin luggage:

* Weight limit: 10kg maximum
* Allowance: One cabin bag plus one small personal item
* Size restrictions: Cabin bag dimensions (including handles and wheels) must not exceed 55 x 40 x 20cm, while personal items should be no larger than 40 x 30 x 15cm
The personal item, such as a handbag, backpack, or laptop bag, must fit under the seat in front of the passenger.
