Wow! Divscapes 2024 was blown away by Keynote Speaker Cristian Dimitrius! His delivery of his behind the scenes of his amazing shots and the videos of the shots was out of this world.

Thanks Alberta Adventure Divers for the great speaker write up.

The keynote speaker at Divescapes Scuba Conference, Christian Dimitrius, inspired us with creative underwater videos. He bravely dives with swimming elephants, anaconda, crocodiles, pink dolphins, octopus, turtles in the remote Amazon, and then weaves stories highlighting the complexity and majesty of the natural world. He takes underwater film making to a true art.

Bikini Atoll has an interesting history was used for Nuclear bombing studies or was it just playing with really large toys?
the last charter will be in 2026, hopefully there it wont be closed to diving and exploring these great ships for long.

Thanks Alberta Adventure Divers for the speaker write up

At the Divescapes Scuba Conference John McCuaig shared video of his trip to Bikini Atoll, and the fall out from Operation Crossroads. It is fascinating to see the damage to the shipwrecks and learning that soon there will be no dive trips to Bikini.

Divescapes 2024 guests learnd about the Great White Sarks that are off the Canadian East Coast from Chris Harvey-Clark.

Thanks Alberta Adventure Divers for the speaker write up.

Did you know that Nova Scotia has Great White Sharks, in significant numbers? At the Divescapes Scuba Conference Chris Harvey-Clark educated us with facts, photos, information, and advice on which dive site not to scuba dive in!! I was happy that most of my diving is in land locked Alberta.

You can hear stories of how Hollywood creates amazing water worlds but hear and be immersed onto a set behind the scenes really brings it home.

Drey also hosted an amazing workshop on how to tell your story.

Thanks for the great speaker write up Alberta Adventure Divers

Andrea ‘Drey’ Stockert brought the Hollywood touch to the Divescapes Scuba Conference. A favourite movie in our house “The Perfect Storm”. The clips Drey showed of how they made the movie was eye-opening. Her vivid stories and video of behind the scenes action over 20 years ago made you appreciate the film in an entirely new way.
On Sunday, Drey presented a lively video editing seminar on ‘Crafting Splash-Worthy Underwater Videos’. All of us who attended gained a new appreciation of the thought and effort needed to tell a great story in a 90 second clip!!!

Was so great to have Moronke Harris bring the deep sea to us at Divescapes 2024.
You can follow her work and sometimes live feeds during expeditions at https://nautiluslive.org/tech/ev-nautilus

Thanks Alberta Adventure Divers for the great speaker write up

Moronke Harris shared her enthusiasm for ROV research in the deepest parts of the ocean to the Divescapes Scuba Conference. One thinks of the ocean bottom as a lifeless expanse of rock and silt. Moronke shared video showcasing the excitement of scientists as they discover expanses of life in hydrothermal vents on the seafloor.

So much Goes into Archeology and even more when its underwater.
Parks Canada has many sites above and below water with the Franklin Expedition shipwrecks Erebus and Terror being among them. Was great to hear from Jonathon Moore and the work that is being done.

Thanks Alberta Adventure Divers for the great speaker write up
Check out parks Canada Website for some neat information.

Canadian history comes to life: Johnathon Moore updated the Divescapes Scuba Conference on the Franklin Expedition and how scientists are methodically researching the shipwrecks and cataloguing the finds. Attendees have a new appreciation for the work involved in researching a historic shipwreck in Arctic waters.

Faith talked twice, mesmerized us with the opening talk of Divescapes 2024 then wow'd us with weedy sea dragons and hope for the restoration of kelp forests down under

At Divescapes Scuba Conference Faith Ortins shocked us with a presentation on the giant kelp forests in Tasmania, Australia. The world’s fastest-growing plant was wiped out due to climate change in recent years. Scientists are attempting to regrow kelp to save the kelp forests from extinction in Tasmania.

Truly an amazing person Rick Stanton is, was such a pleasure to have him come tell us about how he got to be the one that was called for the rescue. Thanks Alberta Adventure Divers for your great write up.

Rick Stanton is well known for his pivotal role in the Thai cave rescue. He regaled us at Divescapes Scuba Conference with inside events that have not made it to the public documentaries, books and interviews.

Thanks Alberta Adventure Divers its hard to pick a safety speaker and Neal knocked out of the park even with having Saturday Morning opening talk slot

At the Divescapes Scuba Conference Dr. Neal W Po***ck gave a fascinating / potentially terrifying / educational review of diving accident considerations. He presented thought provoking considerations and mitigation strategies for divers. These are concepts not emphasized or event taught at all in Open Water courses.

At Divescapes Faith Ortins presented on the magic of diving the Azores in the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. My table secretly Googled where are the Azores? By the end we were looking up flights as we have added it to the bucket list!!!! Faith has scouted out mind blowing dive sites in the Azores.
