The third species of antbird that I want to highlight is this particularly challenging one. I think we may have had a combined 30 seconds of "good" views of it in the ten or so minutes it was foraging around in the brush, but that's all it takes when you're taking a photo or twenty!
This Chestnut-backed Antbird was found at a bit of a higher elevation in the El Valle de Anton area, close to where our guide grew up. This was one of many that we found based on its calls rather than having a lucky find at an army ant swarm, which is likely why we didn't get to see it for very long.
