Back in December, we spent a few days immersed in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort. I've got to admit, I was super impressed. They did an absolutely amazing job of recreating this wonderful world. If you have Harry Potter fans in your house, it's a must do!!!

“You’re gonna do a LOT of walking!”
This is something that I always warn friends, family and clients who are going to visit Walt Disney World for the first time. Even on your rest days, you’re likely to get more steps than when you’re at home.
Here are some of my tips for how to prepare, so that you’re not overcome by exhaustion and soreness when while you’re on vacation:
👟 SHOES 👟
Bring at least two pairs of your most comfortable shoes. Think comfort over fashion. Bring gel or other types of insoles to help keep your shoes feeling comfy - you only need one good pair of insoles that you can move from one pair of shoes to the other. If you happen to have an old pair of well worn-in sneakers sitting in the back of your closet, consider taking those, because you know they’ll be very comfortable, and at the end of your trip, you can just throw them away. Now you have more space in your luggage for souvenirs!

🏃GET IN WALKING SHAPE🏃‍♀️
At least a month before your trip, start walking a bit more than you usually do. Try to take at least a short walk daily and if you can, try to take at least one long walk each weekend. This way your system won’t be shocked by the sudden increase in daily steps. Every little bit of preparation will help to keep everyone happier during the trip.

🚰 HYDRATE REGULARLY🚰
Drinking LOTS of water will help you from getting cramps or experiencing sudden exhaustion. You can get free cups of ice water at any Quick-Service dining location in the parks. Personally, I don’t really like the taste of the tap water in Orlando (it reminds me a bit of a swimming pool), so we like to order a case of bottled water to our hotel before we leave. You’re allowed to bring your own water into the parks! We usually bring two bottles of cold water and one frozen bottle in our bag, so by the time we drank the first two bottles, the third one is thawed but still cold. Try to start drinking water earlier in the day, before dehydration even starts to set in.

🧘PREPARE TO TAKE CARE🧘
Aside from comfortable shoes, bring things that will ensure that you’re ready to deal with inevitable soreness. Things like Moleskin padding or blister defense sticks, in case your feet hurt. Also bring a bottle of your preferred pain medication, in case you wake up in pain and you don’t to cancel that day’s plans.
Do some stretching in the morning and consider taking a bath in your hotel room at night - these two things alone can make a HUGE difference.

This is going to be a VERY fun trip! Don’t let soreness slow you down. If you follow these steps, everyone in your group will be much happier.

All week I've been talking about Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and I've saved the best for last..........
There are only a certain number of tickets sold for this event sooooooo the lines for the attractions are no where near as long as they are most of the time. You can walk on to almost EVERY ride! So even the toughest, longest wait rides, are MUCH more accessible than normal!!

I am so excited!!
My magic number is 30!!!
In 30 SLEEPS I'm headed back to the land of magic!
While no trip to Florida CANNOT include Walt Disney World, this trip I plan to immerse myself in Universal Studios Orlando and Sea World to enable me to be able to recommend to you, my clients, based on experience rather than learning.

It's really hard to get a picture of the castle without a TON of people in your picture! One of the ways we figured out early on, is to book a breakfast reservation at Be Our Guest for before the park opens!
Not only do you get to see the park with the least amount of people, if you time it right and finish up your breakfast just as the park opens, you can walk on a couple of the harder to get rides before the crowds get there!!

The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival is one of my favorite times to visit Walt Disney World. The flowers, the topiaries, everything is just magical.
