Pretty unique day on August 14th, 2024. The northern residents are still around and they were interacting with some pacific white sided dolphins. Really fun to watch!

On my tour this morning I did take pictures of our female sea otter carrying a baby on her belly, it seems that the baby is deceased. I will not post any pictures of that.

Fabulous 6h tour. We got the opportunity to watch 2 different types of orcas! Some northern residents (fish eaters) and some transients (mammals eaters) + few humpback whales feeding.

We get asked a lot of questions why we can’t get closer to the whales?

That is because in Canada, there are regulations that limit how close we as boats can get to whales and Orca’s.

The 200-meter rule for the Orca’s and the 100-meter rule for the Humpback whales is in place to protect these amazing creatures and reduce the risk of disturbing them in their natural habitat. It helps minimize the impact of human activities on the whales and allows them to behave naturally without interference.

Grizzly bears are impressive animals! They are known for their strength and agility. These bears can weigh up to 1,500 pounds and stand about 6 to 7 feet tall when on their hind legs. Grizzlies have a distinctive hump on their shoulders, which is a key feature that sets them apart from other bear species. They have a varied diet, including berries, nuts, fish, and even small mammals. Grizzly bears are also excellent swimmers and climbers. It's important to remember to respect their space and admire them from a safe distance in their natural habitats.

We are looking forward to seeing them again on our grizzly bear expeditions! 🐻
