Was very fortunate to visit the seaside city of Cape Town in South Africa for a few days. I was by myself and felt very safe walking around. Great weather blessed my visit. A busy city with many tourists who would enjoy the sights of Robben Island, Boulders Beach with the penguins, Stellenbosch wine region, Table Mountain, and Cape of Good Hope to name a few.
We honor the memory of those who have fought to protect our freedom this Remembrance Day and those who promote peace globally, and as I depart for Robben Island in Cape Town, I acknowledge the struggles for justice and freedom in South Africa, where the prison's transformation into a museum occurred in 1997. Meteora is a great place to experience , a spectacular landscape and byzantine monasteries perched on top of steep rocks that house priceless artifacts and wall paintings
Today only six monasteries are active with a small number of monks or nuns who reside on Meteora. In 1988, the Meteora monasteries have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List
This was a very long day trip from Athens but it has been on my list for a long time and felt it was worth it. Departure at 8 am from near the train station returning at 1030 pm. Cost was 80 euros/120 cad
Our guide Maria was amazing. Just enough information to retain, not overwhelming
Just wow! Can’t believe my holiday coincided with an evening here in Athens.
It was built in AD 161 by Herodes Atticus in memory of his Roman wife, Aspasia Annia Regilla. It was originally a steep-sloped theatre with a three-story stone front wall and a wooden roof made of expensive cedar of Lebanon timber. It was used as a venue for music concerts with a capacity of 5,000
With 35 rows, the marble auditorium extends slightly beyond a semi-circle with a diameter of 80 metres and today seats 4680 people.
