Vehicle access to downtown will be impacted on July 1 to accommodate the annual Canada Day parade.

Here is what you need to know:

🍁 Expect LIMITED to NO vehicle access downtown from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

🍁 Residents and visitors living or staying along the parade route (including the disbanding route) are advised that road closures will impact vehicle access to and from their residences.

🍁 There will be no parking available on 10 St. until after the parade has completely disbanded and streets are open.

🍁 If you park in a public lot downtown, you will not be able to leave the lot between 10 a.m - 2 p.m. Paid parking is still in effect.

🍁 Access grocery stores, the Canmore Nordic Centre, golf courses, etc. by using the Three Sisters Parkway. You will not be able to travel through town and across the Bow River bridge.

🍁 There will be limited vehicle access to Elevation Place while road closures are in effect.

⚠️ Planning on driving to Banff National Park through the Banff East Gates within the next month? You need to know the following when planning your trip:

🔨👷 There will be a major utility upgrade project occurring at the East Gate over the next few weeks that will have major impacts to normal traffic patterns. Construction activities are expected to begin on Tuesday April 16th and will be completed on May 3rd (weather permitting).

🚧 To allow the work to be completed, both lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway at the East Gates will be closed for 8 days, and through-traffic will be re-directed to Lane 1 while the work is underway. Lane closures may result in delays, so visitors and local residents should plan ahead and give themselves extra time.

🎟️ Park pass sales will continue through the open lanes.

🛑 👷 Please slow down and be mindful of on-site workers. Follow the directions of the signage, video message boards and traffic flaggers.

🚗 For more information on road conditions and real-time updates, please consult Alberta 511: http://ow.ly/taEM50O5i4Z

Are you planning to visit Lake Louise or Moraine Lake this summer? 🏔️☀️
⚠️There are a few important updates and changes you need to know about!

🚌Shuttles:
Reservations open on April 18! Booking a seat on a Parks Canada shuttle is the best way to make the most of your time in Banff National Park and to guarantees the ability to see both iconic destinations in one day.
✨New this year ✨
The Alpine Start Shuttle is now an option aimed at climbers, scramblers or hikers who need earlier start times to complete their adventures. There will be two daily departures (4am and 5am). There are some important differences to note about how this new service will operate. Learn more on our website: https://ow.ly/Xjag50QZQXJ

🚗Parking:
Paid parking will be in effect at the Lake Louise Lakeshore from 3 am - 7 pm from May 17 to October 14, 2024. Parking rates are $36.75 for the day - no hourly parking is available.
This fee, along with fees collected from the shuttles, helps Parks Canada offset the costs of the traffic management program in the Lake Louise area. Parks Canada shuttles continue to offer another way for visitors to access the lakes. Youth under 18 ride for free, seniors’ tickets are half price, and tickets for adults are only $8.

🚧Construction:
Beginning in spring, Parks Canada will be making important improvements to Lake Louise Drive. These improvements are necessary to maintain and upgrade infrastructure for transit, vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians on this roadway that now hosts over one million vehicles each year. Visitors can expect significant traffic disruptions this summer due to construction: https://ow.ly/1G9U50QZQXK

📣Please plan ahead, take transit, and book shuttles before arriving. If you don’t have shuttle or transit tickets, please consider returning after securing reservations in advance.

Smoke comes and goes every summer in the region.

We are having a great Spring in the Bow Valley, and we are thrilled to have you for a visit in the next few weeks.

Winter is still here, be prepared!!

‼️ Attention Banff Backcountry Users ‼️

This year, winter conditions are lingering in much of the Park, particularly in and around Lake Louise and the Icefields Parkway.

If you are planning to hike or backpack in the park, come prepared to encounter snow and winter hazards that include:
⚠️ Widespread avalanche hazard on all aspects above 2000 metres

⚠️Deep, unsupported snow that will make some sections of trail impassable at warmer times of day.

⚠️Increased risk of rapid snow melt, flash floods, landslides, and falling rock/snow/ice during heat or rain events.

⚠️ Challenging or unsafe water crossings as the snow melts.

⚠️ Be aware that rainfall/flood warnings are currently in place for Banff, Yoho and Kootenayy national parks. Use caution when travelling near or crossing rivers, streams and lakes.

Be prepared to change your plans at any time during your trip should conditions warrant. Safety is your responsibility.

Check the trail report for up to date conditions: https://www.pc.gc.ca/en/pn-np/ab/banff/activ/randonee-hiking/etat-sentiers-trail-conditions
