“Sail Away” by Legit Kits, the perfect quilt to work on this freezing cold winter day!! Notice the quilt is put together in blocks rather than long rows like traditional quilts much easier to work with shorter seams. This is a great beginner project because of larger pieces, works well as a group class everyone makes a few blocks to learn the techniques and the whole quilt is given to a lucky participant whose name is drawn.

“Easy Rider” by Legit Kits is complete!!! did the amazing custom quilting, be sure to zoom in and check it out! I faced the quilt instead of binding it and I’m really happy with the results. As a certified instructor I can teach you to create your own master piece!!

Local Quilt Shop Day is held on the fourth Saturday in January every year to celebrate local quilt shops and their contribution to the world. The delightful day is an opportunity for quilters to give honour back to the independent quilt shops that work so hard to bring such joy.

Ok. Time to talk about human rights and politics and privilege and how all those things intersect with our lives and art and, in particular, quilting. For those of you who can't accept these intersections because "quilting is your happy place" then now might be the time for you to scroll on by or just leave. Or, maybe if this makes you uncomfortable, consider turning that discomfort into something positive. Stay. Read on. Learn. Take action.

We are at a moment in humanity where we are stepping dangerously into the "history repeating itself" era. Trump's hateful rhetoric will undoubtedly have negative impacts on the 2SLGBTQI+ community far beyond the US borders. Ignoring this will not make it go away. Complacency will not make the lives of trans, non-binary, 2-spirited folx any better. Now is the time to stand up, speak up, shout out, be counted and do whatever you can to push back. People's lives are at stake here.

The Canadian Quilters Association is hosting a Quilt Along called True Colours. The CQA/ACC True Colours Quilt Along 2025 celebrates diversity and inclusion, with a focus on support for 2SLGBTQI+ communities leading up to Pride Month in June 2025. The goal is to ensure everyone feels welcome in the quilting circle. Get involved. Put your thread and fabric to good use by supporting this Quilt Along. Make the Quilt. Sell, donate or raffle your True Colours quilt to support 2SLGBTQI+ organizations as they will now face very difficult times ahead. Show your True Colours. We're counting on you.

Beginner quilting class starting February 10

Info- class runs every Monday for 8 weeks class starts at 10am and goes until about 3pm. Cost is $175, this does not include material. All details will be provided once you have signed up!
