Situated in one of the most picturesque communities in PEI sits a historic house that has been completely renovated. The only part that seems to be original is the 150 year old pine floor on the second story. The bright, modern décor throughout the house makes for a stylish, comfortable stay. Inside you are offered the choice of three bedrooms, and three bathrooms. The master suite bedroom has a k
ing, and a half bath. The second upstairs bedroom has a queen sized bed. The downstairs bedroom features a queen, and each has incredible views. Rita’s French River is in a perfect location for off island visitors, especially those who enjoy outdoor activities such as biking, golf, and water sports with many close by attractions to visit and explore. Avid golfers may know the PEI Golf Guide 2016. Five of the finest courses are within 20 minutes of the cottage:
Red Sands in Kensington – 12 minutes
Andersons Creek in Stanley Bridge – 14 minutes
Eagles Glenn in North Rustico – 17 minutes
Glasgow Hills in New Glasgow – 20 minutes
Green Gables in Cavendish – 20 minutes
The French River estuary opens onto New London Bay, a popular body of water shared by fisherman, jet skiers, wind surfers and even a parasail operation. Kayaks are in the garage for you to use! You can launch right from the dock across the street. Head for the sand spit jutting out from Cavendish Beach. It’s around 200 meters wide, and around 4.5 K long. On the north side of the spit lies the open water of the Gulf of St. These are the dunes you see from the beach at New London Bay Lighthouse, a short walk from the cottage. They make for a perfect sea kayaking destination from Rita’s French River. In less than an hour, you are pulling your kayaks up past the high tide mark, and unpacking your picnic. Explore the dune hills and cool off with a swim. Choose the warmer New London Bay side or the cooler Gulf of St. Lawrence just 200 meters away. We are right on one of the best cycling routes too! The 62km Cabot Loop is a delightful blend of scenery, where you’ll get to experience Island countryside, sea and sky. Your ride begins in your garage in French River and winds through Cabot Beach Provincial Park and Kensington back to French River. Take the bikes (also in the garage) to Yankee Beach which looks across a narrow channel lat the desolate dunes west of Cavendish Beach, all part of PEI National Park. Visit two lighthouses, the Yankee Hill Pioneer Cemetery (a historic cemetery you can read the history here: http://www.gov.pe.ca/infopei/index.php3?number=1044&lang=E), and much, much, more. You can visit any of these in a bike ride that takes only 10 minutes! Features:
