What a week we had on board the AmaCello with this incredible group!

Today we set sail from Lyon after four days of high water. 💦

We were inches under some of the bridges! 😬 The weather was spectacular. ☀️

Upon arriving in Vienne, Paula and I headed on a walk 🥾 getting lost on the way to a castle! lol. We had lots of fun despite the adventure!

I’ll post tomorrow about today’s songwriters’ circle 🎶 when I can find the words!

We are on board the AmaCello in Lyon. 🚢

I took a tasting 🥖 tour to Les Halles de Lyon - Paul Bocuse where we tasted pâté croûte (a mix of pâté in a baked crust), Saint Félicien cheese (a creamy cheese famous in Lyon) 🧀, and tarte à la praline (a sweet red tart with a dense crust).

And wine 🍷 of course!

Do you know the difference between an electrical adapter and an electrical converter? This used to confuse me all the time! 🤔

A converter changes or "converts" the electricity ⚡from 220 V (used in Europe and elsewhere) to 110 V (used in North America).

An adapter is used to "adapt" the plug 🔌so that it fits in the socket in the country you're visiting.

A great resource is a website called "Power Plugs & Sockets of the World" that exists just to figure out what you need when you're travelling! 🔗Link in the comments.

Did you know that your expiry date is not the only thing you need to check on your passport? 🛂 You passport must have at least one (and sometimes more) blank pages 💦 You cannot have any - ANY - damage (read the story below) 🗓 Validity must be for the duration required by the country you are visiting A colleague just recounted this story to us ... it happened yesterday: 😲 Her client was at the Toronto airport, headed for Huatulco, Mexico. When her passport was scanned by the Air Canada travel agent, water damage was detected. The watermark was barely visible to the naked eye. Nonethless, the passport was not accepted by the agent or the supervisor (rightfully so) and she was denied boarding. 😓 Another colleague told of a passenger who was denied to Montego Bay because of a damaged passport - she lost her trip. 😔 Another colleague said she's had at least two clients in the past few years who have been denied boarding because of damaged passports. 💡 Our tips? ✅ Keep your passport in a ziploc bag or a waterproof passport cover. ✅ Examine your passport when you book your trip. Any tears, water marks, ink splotches, bends, or damage - no matter how small - makes the passport invalid. ✅ If you're unsure, have it inspected by Passport Canada or get it replaced well in advance - don't leave it until boarding. Denial of boarding due to passport damage is not covered by most travel insurance policies.
