A scuba divers dream is to experience the Great Barrier Reef.
It is always a topic of conversation when Australia is brought up.
As a diver this has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember.

Australia is very different to us Northerners. So for a lot of us, it is a must see!
If you're looking to plan a trip, be aware their seasons are very different from ours.

Summer: December to February
Australia's summer is hot, with temperatures ranging from warm to very hot, depending on the region. Coastal areas experience milder temperatures, while inland areas can see extreme heat.

Fall: March to May
Autumn in Australia sees temperatures cooling down, and trees in many parts of the country (especially in the south) lose their leaves. It's a time of transition from the heat of summer to the cooler winter months.

Winter: June to August
Winter in Australia is generally mild compared to other parts of the world, especially in the northern regions. However, the southern parts of the country, like Tasmania and the southern mainland, can experience colder temperatures and occasional snowfall in the mountains.

Spring: September to November
Spring brings warmer temperatures and is marked by blooming flowers and growing vegetation. It's a transitional season from winter to summer, often with mild and pleasant weather, especially in the southern regions.

TIME TO TRAVEL!!
There is no time like now to start planning.
Whether it's a relaxing kabana ride in Mexico.
Something more local like a hike up Signal Hill in Newfoundland.
Or maybe a bit further? What about walking the shore of the Indian Ocean off the South Africa's coast?

Personally with winter coming, I'm excited for Cancun.

Out of these three spots, South Africa has a very big hold on my heart! I was lucky to go in 2019 and have been waiting for the day I can go back!

So, where too?

Do you know the origin of Halloween?

It is known as Samhain (SOW-wen) which is a Gaelic festival that marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. Samhain has its roots in ancient Celtic practices, particularly in Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. It marked the end of the harvest and the onset of winter, a critical time for agrarian societies. It signifies the transition between the light half of the year and the dark half.

Samhain is believed to be a time when the veil between the living and the dead is thinnest where spirits could cross over from the Otherworld. People would honor their ancestors and deceased loved ones, inviting them to join in the festivities. Families would set places at their tables and some would leave offerings of food to appease wandering spirits.

Bonfires were lit to ward off evil spirits and to provide light and warmth as the nights grew longer. People would also engage in divination practices, seeking glimpses of the future. They wore costumes to prevent spirits from recognizing the living. People would wear masks or cloaks to blend in with the supernatural. Traditional foods associated with Samhain included apples, nuts, and various harvest produce. These foods symbolized abundance and the cycle of life.It was a time for feasting and community gatherings, where people would share food and drink.

Today, many neopagan traditions, like Wicca and Druidry, celebrate Samhain as a significant festival. It emphasizes themes of death, rebirth, and the changing of seasons. Samhain is often seen as the precursor to Halloween. Many of the customs, like trick-or-treating and carving pumpkins (which evolved from the practice of carving turnips), stem from these ancient traditions.

Samhain remains a rich tapestry of customs and beliefs, celebrating the interplay of life, death, and the cycles of nature. It encourages reflection and connection with both the past and the present.
