We celebrate National Indigenous History Month in June and honour National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21. This is a time to acknowledge the rich histories, diverse cultures, and unique ways of life of the Indigenous Peoples, and continue on the journey towards reconciliation.

Tourism Ch’illiwack expresses gratitude to the Stó:lō Coast Salish People (People of the River,) specifically the Pelólhxw and Ts’elxwéyeqw tribes who are the rightful titleholders of the area we now call Chilliwack. We appreciate the opportunity to live, work, and play here, recognizing our responsibility to act in harmony with the Stó:lō values of caretaking for the territories and all relationships within it.

This is Chilliwack | #InStólō

The Magnetic Field is changing, and it’s pointing East.

In search of pathways less travelled, Chilliwack is that place for rejuvenation. To unplug from empty distraction and plug into elevated perspectives.

Mountain High Valley Low River Wide Lake Deep

The Chilliwack River flows out of the valley and into the Fraser River. Going back upstream, as far as you can go – this is the meaning behind the name of our city. This is the meaning of Chilliwack, or Ts’elxwéyeqw. Holding tightly to our Indigenous roots, we pay homage to the Stó:lō people and Halq'eméylem language that connect us to the history and to the land.
