We can only hope - and put pressure on - the Gov't will make alternative decisions to yet another dam on the Bow River.
"July 2024 Update: The Bow River Reservoir Options
The Alberta government is looking at alternatives, what does that mean?
Although the BRRO is exploring a potential new reservoir on the Bow River upstream of Calgary for water management flexibility, much work has gone into assessing if there is something else, an alternative, that could be done that would provide equivalent flood mitigation and drought protection.
The Alberta government is preparing a report that synthesizes the assessments of key alternatives, documenting in one place their benefits, risks and other important considerations. This will help inform a decision on whether to proceed with one of the reservoir options to Phase 3: Engineering and Regulatory Approval Process."
The Bow River Reservoir Options – July 2024 UpdateJuly 4, 2024The following news release was received from Alberta Environment & Protected Areas today. Some important decisions have been made to move the project forward as quickly as possible while recognizing the importance of public engagement i...

Over 20 people took some sort of course with me this year, and I think each one heard me say this at least once 😅
It makes me SO HAPPY to see folks interested in learning how to be on the water safely. Paddle boarding is such a special and unique way to experience our province, and the more that folks learn to do it safely the more fun there is to be had!
You amplify your fun by mitigating your risks as much as possible. So learning proper technique, wearing appropriate paddling attire, and practicing your skills will keep your confidence and stoke high while you get out and have fun.
Thanks to all of you who took a course, and to all of you who booked a private session! Can't wait to run more of them next Spring.
Time to settle fully into guide mode 😎
In celebration of the Summer Solstice this week, and I have an announcement:

Thanks to all of you fellow Adventurers for following along on this incredible journey, I could not have made it this far without you. If you're new to the Kelsey's Caravan community, here's a bit about me:
"I’ve turned my passion for the outdoors into a small business; a small business that is focused on the unique experience of each and every individual. Through rafting and stand up paddle boarding, I aim to share with you my love and knowledge of this beautiful province I call home.
I want to provide experiences for people that are not only special and exciting, but also learning opportunities. Building personal skills and confidence is key to enjoying some remarkable moments outside.
Through fully guided outdoor ventures and courses, I want to introduce you and those you know to places and activities that you may not have had access to before."
Here's to a full season ahead and hope many more 🤘🤘
💔💔💔
Pretty f***ing mad myself
Nakoda has died from her injuries after being hit by a vehicle on Friday. What an absolutely disastrous blow to Banff's beleaguered grizzly population. Nakoda is now the SIXTH breeding female grizzly bear to die in the Lake Louise-Yoho-Kootenay field unit in the past four years. This is SUPPOSED to be a grizzly bear stronghold, one of three main subpopulations in Banff National Park. Instead, bears can barely stay alive for a few years due to our obsession with having to get from A to B quickly and our insatiable desire to love our parks to death.
At this point, frankly, I'm f**king mad. Not at Parks Canada, who moved mountains to try to keep this bear alive, but at us...look at f**king Canmore, doubling and tripling in size like there are no long-term consequences for wildlife. This is the bell tolling on our absolute idiocy as a species. Do we REALLY need more hotels in Banff and Canmore and Jasper and Whistler and Gardiner and Yosemite, or is what we REALLY need more protected areas, more wildlife, more responsibility and consequences for our actions? Does everyone really NEED to have a second house in the mountains? Tax the f**k out of people if that's what they think they need/want.
Am I ranting? F**k yes I am. I'm so tired of this BS. Poor Nakoda and her little cubs were the future of Banff's grizzly bears, and guess what? That future looks terrible right now. Time for a summit to figure out what we do next, because the status quo is not working.
Donate, volunteer, get involved people. It's time.
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose🌊🏞..
May was a busy month full of paddle board courses and instruction. I'm SO stoked for all the folks who now have some safety skills and basic technique to take them wherever their heart desires on the water.
Courses are closed for now, but if you're looking to gain some paddle board knowledge and experience please email or message me about creating a custom, private paddle board session🤘From lakes to rivers, let's get you feeling comfortable and confident paddling our beautiful Alberta waters....
Today is your day. You're off to great places! You're off on your way!

Our proximity to a wide array of rivers allows us to tailor our experience to each group, so everyone can paddle what they're comfortable with.

A snow storm came and left with a vengeance this weekend. Gypsy and I are here for it🤘 I love how the colour of my tiny house pops against the white of the snow. The dark roof and dark skirting captures a lot of heat from the sun in these current -30 °C temps, which keeps my house at toasty warmness all day and night. Happy freaking holidays and Merry Christmas my fellow Adventurers! I'm still pretty sick, and Gypsy is pretty sick of my nonsense, so this clip is a snowy winter wonderland from a few weeks ago since we've been pretty home bound lately. It's the closest we've been to proper snow out here this Winter😬 Updates are coming soon...but they'll be mentioned first through email to those rad folks who have subscribed to my non-newsletter! Thanks everyone for your patience, have a very merry week🎄🎅🎁 #WildIce

Paddle For Life starts today! I shared this to my stories earlier this week, and was blown away by the response. We surpassed my personal goal of $500 raised towards @cspyyc in just one day! Which means we are that much closer to our entire team's goal for funds raised ❤️ Sunday, Sept. 17 at 6am we welcome paddlers of all types to join us as we paddle from darkness into light at Ghost Lake. You can check out the other paddling dates available, or donate directly to our team, at the links in my bio. "Team Bryak for Life is about to embark on year four of supporting the Run for Life, aka "Paddle for Life." In past years we have slowly encouraged fellow paddlers to recognize the importance of being alert to the possibility that someone in our lives, fellow paddlers perhaps, may have been impacted in some way by suicide. We encourage the paddling community to join Team Bryak for Life and paddle with purpose for a worthy cause, between Sept. 16 and 23. " #RunForLife2023 #TeamBryal #PaddleForLife
Our little town is so beautiful and vibrant. Sharing Cochrane through the lens of a Cochrane River Trip makes me so proud, and so excited for all the new river lovers out there who came out to learn and experience our Bow River. Showing people how to use and access the water in a safe and fun way is a key reason behind why I started this business. And thanks to partnerships with organizations like @visitcochrane, I'm able to showcase that. Not only is tourism starting to thrive in this area, so is education and environmental awareness, and I'm PUMPED to be on the ground floor of these discussions and growth! Thank you, my fellow Adventurers, for an awesome season of stand up paddling on the river🌊🤟 Until next year! 📽️: @lostcoordinate ..... #KelseysCaravan #WaterAdventures #CochraneTourism #CochraneRiverTrips #SUPTheBow . . . #StandUpAndPaddle #BeginnerFriendly #BowValleySUP #PaddleBoard #TravelAlberta #ExploreLocal #AdventureLocal #VisitCochrane #CochraneAB

Well yeah, it is! 🤟☀️🏞🏔🌊 www.kelseyscaravan.com
On this throwback Thursday, let's revisit a young Kelsey throwing Adventure spaghetti at the wall and hoping it stuck. It did! 🌊🌊🌊 In 2017, a huge opportunity came up (by happenstance and random googling) for me to create what was called an ATB BoostR Campaign. This was a crowd funding initiative to purchase my very first raft, and many of you have supported and followed along with me since those early days. This campaign is the only reason I even started up Kelsey's Caravan (formerly Gypsy's Caravan) because without it, I never would have had the funds or the drive to kick this business off the ground. It's surreal looking back on this campaign video - and there's more to this video on YouTube! - because even though some of the Adventures offered have changed, my core values I'm happy to say have stayed the same. My goal is to keep bringing new outdoorsfolk out on the water, having fun and learning too. Thanks to everyone who has stuck around since the start, and welcome to all the folks who have recently found me🤟🤟 #KelseysCaravan #WaterAdventures
