Teslin River - 9-day Canoeing Tour 🛶
Deep In The Yukon 🇨🇦, Steeped In History
During the gold rush, the Teslin River became a secondary route to the gold fields. It was favoured by those who wanted to avoid the Chilkoot Trail and the hazardous White Horse Rapids 🌊. The Teslin itself feeds into the Yukon River, so this guided tour sees both rivers along the braided gold rush trail to the gold fields.
🧑‍🏫- The Teslin River has been known by several names, like many features in the Yukon. The Northern Tutchone people call the river Délin Chú. Tes-s'l-heen-a, a Tlingit name, was recorded in the 1850s, although in 1882, German explorer Aurel Krause stated that the river's name was Tis-lin-hin. In 1887, George Mercer Dawson travelled though here as head of the territory's first geological exploration 🧐. He reported that the river was "known as the Hootalinkwa" to the local miners. ⚒
This tour covers the Teslin from Johnson's Crossing all the way to the confluence of the Yukon River and beyond, to the Little Salmon River confluence .
In 1896 the discovery of gold near Dawson City altered the history of the Yukon River forever. It became the main route for 30,000 goldrushers as they floated in an armada of over 6,000 boats to their dreams of adventure and wealth in the Klondike.
Over the next fifty years, towns and villages sprang up along its shore and paddlewheelers carried people and supplies up and down its waters. When modern highways were introduced into the region the river became redundant. Homes and entire villages moved to locations closer to the roads and the Yukon River was allowed to return to its natural state.

Kluane National Park - Rivers of Ice
Kluane National Park is a microcosm remnant of the last ice age🗻. The Kaskawulsh Glacier is, literally, a river of ice, fed directly from six smaller glaciers merging into the main glacier body. We hike in the valleys where glaciation remains a major factor in the life of the land and get a glimpse of the massive body of ice running down the end of the valley to its terminal moraine. 👀
Kluane (clue-on-e), the Southern Tutchone word for "Lake with many Fish"🐟, is a rugged and magnificent wilderness area in Canada's Yukon 🇨🇦, characterized by high mountains, icefields, and glaciers. It has been recognized by UNESCO as part of the largest non-polar icefield in the world with some of the world's longest and most spectacular glaciers 👍. As such it is has been designated a world heritage site by UNESCO. The area is home to abundant wildlife, including Grizzly Bears 🐻and Dall Sheep🐏. We begin this tour with day hikes as we prepare ourselves for the more committed, expedition up Ä'äy Chù, or Slim's River, with a middle day hike up Observation Mountain for the spectacular view of the glacier.

"Call of the Wild" Chilkoot Trail 🇨🇦 – a Trip back in Time to the Goldrush! 💰
While the US side of the infamous trail was closed in 2024 for repairs, we eagerly anticipate Alaska Parks opening this one back up for next summer!
The Chilkoot Trail is an adventure that will give you a sense of the challenge 💪, excitement, anticipation, and dangers 😲which faced the Klondike Goldrushers of 1898. The Chilkoot Trail serves as a historic outdoors museum, with the discarded equipment, grave markers, and other reminders of the goldrushers found everywhere along this infamous route.
Our route takes us through rainforest, alpine tundra, and boreal forest. Snowcapped mountains 🗻, hanging glaciers, turquoise lakes, and cascading rivers contribute to the magnificence of the rugged, scenic area that follows the Chilkoot Trail. Our travel back in time begins with a 3 hour train ride 🚂aboard the White Pass & Yukon Railroad from Fraser at the top of the White Pass to Skagway. The train follows the scenic Skagway Valley, past glaciers, through tunnels carved into the mountains, over trestled bridges, and past historic goldrush landmarks.

Mini West Coast Trail - 4-day Hiking Tour
Not quite ready to take on the full West Coast Trail just yet? We get it and so we created this tour just for you!
This is a mini tour 👌that enters Pacific Rim National Park at Nitinaht Lake. The hiking is shorter, with less weight, hits some trail highlights and makes a connection with the Ditidaht First Nation. This four-day mini adventure explores highlights of the trail, such as Tsusiat Falls, an old Ditidaht Warrior village at Tsuquadra, hidden caves and the location of early European settlements near the Cheewhat River 👩‍🏫. Watch whales feeding near the beach, eat local seafood 🦀 and conditions permitting, take a boat ride out through Nitinat Narrows on a marine life tour 🛥.

The West Coast Trail is a premiere adventure destination on Vancouver Island. 🇨🇦
The full 75 km is also a challenging hiking trail, through muddy forest, along a variety of boardwalk sections and along sandy beaches. Although this West Coast Trail Explorer hike has some challenges, it is set up to let those not fully prepared for a full West Coast Trail hike to experience the incredible beauty of the trail 👍👊. This hike does still require careful preparation and planning, and is not suited to everyone’s idea of fun.
The West Coast trail is much more than a challenging hike. It is a breathtakingly beautiful hike 🤩, if you give yourself time and allow us to show you the best locations. Hidden along its pathways, the West Coast Trail also has remnants of history that take you through the footsteps of the First Peoples, European settlers, mariners, and the lives of the few that currently choose the west coast as their home.

Yukon River Canoeing - Heart Of The Yukon 🇨🇦
We wanted to create a trip that embodied all that one envisions when one thinks of the Yukon. We think that our Yukon River canoe trip from Minto to Dawson City 🤠 meets that goal. We selected Minto as a starting point because it is here that the Yukon River leaves its parallel course with the RV and tour bus studded Klondike Highway, and enters the remoteness and serenity of Yukon's wilderness 🌲. The fast current of the Yukon River will transport us deep into a glaciated landscape of low hills, granite rock, high sandy cliffs, and spruce forest. Along the route chances are very good that we will see an assortment of wildlife from Dahl sheep to bears 🐻. Isolated campsites ⛺️, many of which are located on islands in the Yukon River, offer a solitude that one must experience to understand.
The Yukon is synonymous with the Klondike Gold Rush 🪙 and this portion of the Yukon River highlights this more than any other. We will stop to visit Fort Selkirk, an important settlement from the goldrush through to the 1940s. Buildings still stand to represent a bygone era. We will canoe past Stewart City and Sixty Mile. It is from Sixty Mile, that Robert Henderson, began the search that eventually led to the great goldrush. And what feelings must have accompanied the goldrushers as they rounded the bend in the Yukon River and saw Dawson City for the first time. It is an anticipation that many who have done the Yukon River trip with us have expressed. We will spend time in Dawson City, exploring its rich history👩‍🏫, visiting the original goldfields, and enjoying the period entertainment.

BC's Bowron Lake Circuit - 8-day Canoeing Tour 🛶

The Bowron Lakes are considered the quintessential lake canoeing experience in Canada. The 116 km route, through the ruggedly scenic Cariboo Mountains 🗻, is comprised of 6 major lakes and a series of connecting streams, rivers and portages. The portages of the Bowron Lakes are made easier through the use of specially designed carts which allow canoes and equipment to be wheeled between lakes. 👍 We compliment our canoeing with some short hikes to view the Isaac River cascades and the impressive Cariboo Falls.
Besides its natural beauty 🙌, the Bowron Lakes are a wildlife sanctuary. Paddlers may see beavers, bears, otters and moose feeding by the waterways 👀. The Bowron River estuary is a birdwatcher’s paradise with an immense variety of bird life, including coots, mergansers, widgeon, mallards and Canadian geese. ⛺️ Campsites along the Bowron Lakes, set aside for our sole use, ensure the solitude so necessary for a meaningful 🇨🇦 wilderness experience. ✌️👊

The Tombstone Mountains Expedition - An Oasis Of Colour
Some pics from our recent July 12-17 tour.

The Tombstone Mountains present an incredible and important landscape whose granite pinnacles 🌄 have been shaped by wind, water, and glaciers into hornes, aretes and sheer rock walls. Sub-arctic tundra, boreal forest 🌲 and alpine tundra all interweave creating a remarkably diverse and productive eco-system. At the northern edge of the Tombstone Range is Berengia, an area that escaped the glacial scarring of the last ice age.

Our first night in Dawson City 🇨🇦 will be at the Bunkhouse. We will have our tour orientation the evening before we leave on our expediton adventure into the Tombstone Mountains. The tour begins with a helicopter flight 🚁 into the heart ❤️ of the region. Our hike out 🥾will pass through an imposing landscape of hanging valleys, morraine lakes, and spectacular Tombstone Mountain vistas. After hiking our way out of the Tombstone Mountains along Grizzly Valley, we will rendezvous with our van; from there, we will drive on to Dawson City, restored to its gold rush days . In Dawson City, We will will have several opportinities for tour of the area, with the possibility of visiting the old gold fields, of a drive to the Dome and an exceptional view of Dawson and surrounding regions, or to enjoy an evening of festivity at Diamond Tooth Gertie's. 👀

Cape Scott Park
Sea to Sky is excited to introduce hikers to the wonderful Cape Scott Trail. This stunning Park 🤩 is situated on the very Northwest tip of Vancouver Island, BC 🇨🇦 and can be considered a more moderate coastal trek. It is rich in human history, wildlife 🐻🦅, and natural rugged beauty. The area is littered with beautiful crescent beaches 🏖, which in the right amount of sunshine 🌞, will make you wonder whether you've magically been transported to Hawaii somehow!? 🏄‍♀️🏄‍♂️🌊

- The Cape Scott Trail offers sandy beaches 👣, rugged cliffs, blowholes, caves, waterfalls, bogs, rainforest, lighthouses, abandoned settlements, shipwreck relics, First Nations culture, whales 🐳, sea lions, eagles, and giant trees 🌲. Our pace allows time to adjust to the demands of the trail and to fully see and explore this magnificent coastal environment 🦀. Readings and anecdotal stories help the hiker fully appreciate the dramatic and colourful history of the events and people who were a part of this coastline. There are stories from the thousands of years of First Nations history, to the settlement attempts of Danish immigrants in 1897 and American settlers in 1910, the radar defence installations of WWII and the present day challenges of the Cape Scott Lighthouse. 🫶

Broughton Archipelago - 7-day Kayaking Tour
The Broughton Archipelago 🇨🇦 are a feeding grounds for one of the largest populations of orca whales, together with migrating humbacks 🐳 and other marine life 🦀. The waters are rich in nutrients making it an excellent destination for a paddling marine safari 💪 🤟.
Due to the abundance of marine life 🦭and rich forests offering sustenance, it has been a home for many first nations for thousands of years, many of whom still work and live in remote communities. Our tour will provide an opportunity to visit some of these communities and support first nation's enterprises 👌.
