We have some of the best salmon fishing in BC, hands down. However, we also have some of the most dense and healthy populations of orca, humpbacks, grizzly bears, sea otters, and many other critters who utilize this ecosystem as well.

We very often spot orca from the boat, nearly always see multiple humpbacks, and can certainly find a bear or 2 or 3. We often have guests ask if they can take a shift to tour the wildlife, then quickly decide to stick with fishing as it becomes clear that we get a better show than most dedicated wildlife tours do given how long we are on the water, camped out in a single spot.

We fish hard, but our trips are as flexible as you need them to be. Get in touch with us to find your place in summer of 2025.

🚨 CONTEST ALERT!!! 🚨

Fishing lodges come with a hefty price tag, often placing them out of reach for many passionate anglers in British Columbia. Between the expenses of boats, floatplane charters, top-quality gear, expert guides, fuel, permits, insurance, and upkeep, the operational costs of these small and medium-sized businesses create a significant barrier to experiencing a guided fishing trip in the breathtaking landscapes and prime fishing spots that our province has to offer.

Recognizing this challenge, Coastal Springs Float Lodge and Gibbs Fishingibbsfishing are stepping in to make dreams a reality with a monumental giveaway. We’re thrilled to offer an all-expenses-paid, fully guided, fly-in 4-day/3-night trip for two to Coastal Springs Float Lodge, nestled between Knight Inlet and the Broughton Archipelago. And that’s not all – in addition to this extraordinary adventure, the lucky winners will also receive a 14L Gibbs Fishing Cooler stocked with essential fishing tools and a $500 Gift Card to further enhance their future fishing endeavors.

If you’re a fishing enthusiast who has yet to experience the thrill of a guided trip, this is your chance!

“We want to give the gift of an unforgettable journey to someone who truly deserves it and may not otherwise have the opportunity. I understand the financial constraints very much; I couldn’t afford a trip like this. Despite my love for this industry and community, the rising costs make participation increasingly challenging for many. Our goal is to break down those barriers and share the magic of fishing with everyone.” – Cam Reid, Owner, Coastal Springs

To enter, simply submit a brief piece of writing (less 500 words) expressing your passion for the sport and what a fly-in, guided fishing trip like this would mean to you and your chosen fishing companion!

Submissions will be accepted until MARCH 30 and we’ll announce our lucky winner shortly thereafter.

Please send your submissions to [email protected] with the subject line “CONTEST ENTRY” to enter.

Let’s go back…

02/16/2024

Happy Friday, everyone! While some brave souls are venturing out to catch early season halibut (open since February 3rd), there's an even bigger catch making waves: an abundance of Chinook salmon!

Recent reports from Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) bring excellent tidings of Chinook recovery and productivity along the BC south coast. After years of below-average returns, key stocks are rebounding, offering an abundance of Chinook not seen in decades, or maybe ever! This boom is not only bringing joy to anglers but also providing vital sustenance for our iconic Southern Resident Killer Whales (SRKW).

2023 saw unprecedented returns of Summer 4.1 Chinook, with an estimated 627,000 fish making their way through the Fraser River. To put that into perspective, average returns over the past decade have been a fraction of this number. Similar recovery trends are observed in other Chinook stocks, promising a bountiful future for fishing communities and marine ecosystems.

Looking ahead to 2024, the outlook is bright, with expectations of continued abundance for these vital stocks. This is fantastic news for all fishing sectors, coastal communities, and of course, our majestic SRKW.

While there's still work to be done for other salmon stocks along our coast, let's celebrate this success and continue our efforts to support the recovery of our marine ecosystems. Here's to a promising future for Chinook, SRKW, and angling in BC for 2024 and beyond!

The fishing season is currently in progress at Coastal Springs Float Lodge, a well-established full-service lodge that has been operating for over three decades. Nestled along the stunning Central British Columbia coast, surrounded by the awe-inspiring landscapes of Knight Inlet and Blackfish Sound, it provides an idyllic destination for fishing enthusiasts.

Before completing a decking project and attending to guest preparations, the lodge's team took advantage of a few hours to indulge in some fishing. They were delighted to reel in two impressive catches, release numerous oversized fish, and witness an abundance of smaller fish feeding in the area. The Gibbs Wee G in Herring Aid proved exceptionally effective, capitalizing on the plentiful presence of small bait fish nearby.
