Dear Guests of The Copperstone House, please use the Cumberland forest trails trails cautiously.

Hey forest friends! The Western Toadlet’s are on the move in Cumberland’s trail network. We've recieved reports of movement on the forestry road at the south east tip of Allen Lake and close to the end of Vanilla. Also, toadlet’s have been seen on the Allen Lake Dam and close to the exit of That Dam Trail.

Please move with caution and avoid squishing these little dudes, or even better avoid the bottom of Vanilla and go to Blue Collar instead or avoid That Dam Trail and enjoy other surrounding trails that miss the Allen Lake Dam. 🐸

Western Toads are a species of conservation concern and local populations are under threat by habitat loss and invasive predators like bullfrogs. Let's give these little guys a shot at survival! 💚

Who doesn't love BEFORE and AFTER photos?!

This renovation took approximately 9 months to complete: 5 months longer than expected. As you can see it was outdated and in need of some repair. We installed new flooring throughout, painted every surface (including the nasty stained ceiling), replaced all windows with triple pane glass, tiled the kitchen backsplash and tub surround, replaced the 40 year old cedar shingle roof with copper coloured metal roofing, demolished the derelict back deck and replaced with a ground level stamped patio, replaced fencing, added landscaping, installed new gutters, and so much more!

7 months into this project, I received the most devastating news - a confirmed breast cancer diagnosis. All I wanted to do at that moment was quit, but I was too invested and close to completion, I couldn't give up. I pushed on, despite the looming uncertainty of my future, and completed this renovation in January 2022, with the help of friends and local businesses.

I would like to honor those involved and give thanks to Philippa Berg Real Estate Comox Valley, Scott at Mammoth Metal Roofs, Steve at Cumberland Reclaimed Woodworks, Chris at Van Isle Windows, Got Gutters, Darryl at Valley Creative Concrete, Jesse Burwell, Andrew Nicol, Chris Carroll, and even Millie!
