Another successful day aboard the Georgie Porgie!

In the morning, we spent time with a pair of relaxed humpbacks, enjoying their serene presence. The beauty of these gentle giants never fails to amaze us.

By the afternoon, we set sail and met up with another pair, including our old friend Sockeye, one of our favorite humpbacks. Sockeye is easily recognized by his unique scar under his blowholes and his distinct jawline that resembles a sockeye salmon. His friendly nature always leaves a lasting impression on those lucky enough to see him.

As we made our way back, we encountered Sedge, who was busy being a hungry humpback. We caught a glimpse of him bubble feeding, along with some impressive flukes. The ocean was alive with phalaropes and a few gannets to admire.

By evening, we returned to see Sedge. As we watched, another humpback joined in, and the day ended with a couple of breathtaking breaches against a beautiful golden sky, with puffs of white clouds. Definitely a stunning ending to our day.

Whale Adventures, September 1, 2024 ⚓️

It was a grey day yesterday, but that didn’t stop us from setting out on two exciting adventures before the wind set in.

Both our morning and afternoon trips were a success. In the morning, we spent time with a pair of humpbacks, and by the afternoon, our humpback buddy Tusk put on a fantastic tail-slapping show! 💙 Tusk is famous for his signature move—the Tusk-Twist. 🐋 Every encounter with him is a memory in the making!

Unfortunately, Captain Brad made the tough but safe decision to cancel the evening tour as the wind picked up. Safety is always our number one priority, and we’re glad many of our guests were able to reschedule. We truly appreciate your understanding—it breaks our hearts to cancel due to weather, so thank you for being so kind and flexible. 🌬️

This season, some of our best sightings have been on these dark and grey days. So, don’t let a little fog and rain decide whether you’ll join us on an adventure—you just might miss out!

Check out these awesome captures of Tusk, courtesy of our fantastic tour guide, Mandy! 📸

Some stories don’t need words because a picture can hold a lifetime of memories.

A grandfather’s love shared with his grandson, the legacy of a generation boat, and the quiet loyalty of a captain’s dog watching the whales alongside him—showing how even the smallest members of the crew are part of this journey. 🐾

No caption needed, just the love that ties it all together.

Moments too sweet not to share. 💙

⚓ Whale Adventures August 23, 2024 🐋🌊

Today was nothing short of spectacular, filled with unforgettable moments for us and our guests!

Morning: Our adventure kicked off with thrilling humpback whale action, led by our buddy Sedge 💙. He delighted everyone with flipper and tail slaps, and just when we thought it couldn’t get better, one of his friends joined the fun. The two of them put on a show, first a breach from the humpback who joined, Sedge then joining in with multiple breaches and chin breaches, making it an incredible start to the day despite the grey skies and lingering fog.

Afternoon: The humpbacks were still around, though they seemed a bit more relaxed. We enjoyed a few playful flipper slaps as they blessed us with their graceful presence. 🐋🌊

Evening: As the skies cleared, we braved a bit of choppy water to meet up with Tusk 🤍. He treated our guests to a fantastic show, starting with some powerful tail breaches followed by an impressive breach, and wrapping up with a few tail slaps.

It was a day on the bay that none of us will soon forget 😊

Thanks, Mandy, for these great photos!

Whale Adventures - August 22, 2024 🐋⚓

Yesterday’s journey offered us encounters with humpback whales, a grey seal passing by and countless seabirds, with gannets diving in spectacular displays all around us.

To our surprise, a pair of porpoises came unusually close to our boat, a rare sight for us, we usually see them from quite a distance, and sometimes just long enough to know that it's a porpoise. We were also delighted by some dolphins. 🐬

Though the waters were a bit choppy, the sun was shining, and our guests were all smiles throughout the day. 🦭

Each tour offered a unique experience with the humpbacks. In the morning, we spent time with a pair, while in the afternoon, we encountered 3 pairs, six in total. By evening, we were with another pair, with additional blows spotted in the distance. In nature, we never know what we’ll be gifted with, but that’s what makes it an adventure. Just being able to see the beauty all around us and share it with others, dedicated to helping make dreams come true 💙

We ended the day with some laughs 🤣
Our shore boss joined us on the 5:00 p.m. tour and had an unexpected encounter with a passing bird. As she humorously said, “All I heard was a splat, and I knew… I was blessed with good luck!” - At least this created some laughter to end the day 🤷🏻‍♀️

Our goal is to give you the best experience possible, a mix of learning and fun that makes every moment memorable! Even if last nights surprising event wasn't planned, it still makes for a good story. 😊

Whale Adventures for August, 18 2024 ⚓🌊

Even with the calm seas yesterday, we had to do a bit of searching, but our patience paid off!

We were treated to a spectacular humpback kick-feeding right by Gull Rock. A few swishes of the tail, a small dive, and then up through his bubble cloud for a big mouthful.

These days, it seems the whales are keeping themselves busy with feeding, catching some naps in between!

A lot of our tours this season have been full of hungry, hungry humpbacks. 🐟🐋🌊

Shout out to all our repeat customers yesterday, it’s always a pleasure meeting new faces, but it’s equally special to see old friends aboard the Georgie Porgie! ⚓💙

Here’s a picture of a special moment with Georgie, Captain Brad’s grandfather, as he stopped by for a chat before our morning whale adventure 🐋🌊.

It’s always a treat when he shares his stories and wisdom with us or just stops by to watch us sail away 🤍

And guess what? Yesterday was Georgie’s (Bumpy’s) birthday! 🎂 Sending you all the love, Bumpy, hope we’re making you proud! 🎉

Whale Adventures , August 15 2024 ⚓️

The morning and afternoon, our whale friends were busy feeding, we watched them for a while and enjoyed the calmness.
The water was so calm is looked like glass and left a twinkle from the sun. There were plenty of seabirds joining the feast, including puffins and gannets. 🐟☀️

As the sun began to set, we came up to a single humpback that was settling down for a nap for a while. Just as we were enjoying the peaceful scene, he woke up with a splash—flipper slapping and chin breaching, giving us an unforgettable show to end the day! 🐋🌊

This magical show was just off of Whale of a Time Camping! We could see people in the distance watching from shore 💙

Shout out to uncle Earl, it was nice seeing you on the water, able to watch this exciting whale with us.

What a way to wrap up our Whale Adventures.

Be sure to look through all the pictures! The chin breaches are amazing! 💙🐋

Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!

Whale Adventures for August 14 , 2024 ⚓️☀️

The day started a little unusual for the Georgie Porgie. Captain Brad decided to go out to the southern end of the passage into the St. Mary’s bay where he had reports of a whale kick feeding in the area. Thanks Captain Roy!

We were treated to the sight of a humpback kicking his tail up to bubble his feed to the surface, then he would disappear only to return by lunging up through the bubbles with his mouth wide open. What a sight it was!

In the afternoon, we were thrilled to witness a mom and her baby diving, each treated us to a spectacular breach. We never get tired of seeing the mom and calf pairs. What an amazing sight for our guests 🐋🌊

As the evening brought cooler temperatures, the sight of so many whales around us made us forget the bite of the wind.

We watched at least 6 humpbacks with many more blows all around! There was even a few dolphins! 🐬

Three very different tours, each unique, yet all were fantastic, leaving our guests in awe of the incredible sights.

You should join us! You'll absolutely love it!

Whale Adventures on the Georgie Porgie ⚓️
August 13, 2024 🐋🌊☀️

“Whales for days” is an understatement! Yesterday, we were spoiled with humpbacks scattered all over the bay, it was almost impossible to decide which way to go.

With the sun shining down, the whales glistened beautifully, especially on our evening tour. Whether they were gracefully gliding through the water, showing us some tail flukes, or surprising us with unpredictable moments, it was a wonderful day on the bay.

We had an up-close and personal situation; we shut down the engines and let this curious humpback playfully glide beneath our boat. The excitement didn’t stop there. Later, we were treated to a surprise breach in the distance, followed by a happy whale showing off some tail slaps. The sky was alive with seabirds, and the water was dotted with their flutters.

We’ve been blessed with beautiful weather so far, making these sightings even more magical for all who joined us. ✨

I wonder what today’s adventures will bring!

Yesterday’s Whale Adventure, Georgie Porgie
August 11, 2024 🐋🌊

What we witnessed brought something extraordinary to the Bay! We witnessed an active humpback feeding in a way we haven’t seen very often. Instead of the usual dive, this whale would surface, give a swish of his tail, and then repeat it before going down and coming back up in a powerful lunge.

This is called Kick-feeding, a thrilling sight that kept everyone on the Georgie Porgie captivated!

We also had the pleasure of watching our buddy Tusk, doing his tusk-twist!

Moments like these are what make our tours unforgettable. 🐋💙

Some Family History For You ⚓🐋🌊

Since 1994, Freeport Whale & Seabird Tours has been a family-owned business, dedicated to sharing the beauty of the Bay of Fundy with visitors from around the world. It all began with Tim and Karen Crocker, who turned a passion for the sea into a unique adventure for whale and bird enthusiasts.

Our beloved vessel, the Georgie Porgie, has a rich history. Before it became the heart of our tours, it served as a lobster boat, originally owned by Tim’s father, George ( Bumpy ).
This 45-foot Cape Islander is more than just a boat, it is a legacy passed down through generations.

The the legacy continues with Captain Bradley Crocker, Tim’s son. Having worked alongside his father as both a lobster fisherman and a captain, Bradley carries forward the family tradition with the same passion and dedication that has defined the Crockers for decades. The Georgie Porgie remains a vessel of discovery, offering unforgettable adventures to all who come aboard.

For those who have shared these waters with us, you’ve not only experienced the beauty of the Bay, but you’ve also become a part of our family’s story. And for many, ever lasting friendships.

And those yet to join us, we look forward to welcoming you into a tradition that has been shaped by hard work, love for each other and love for the whales and wildlife.💙

There's so much history here. Thanks for helping us keep our family legacy alive.

To all the bird lovers out there! We’ve decided to make a post for one of our - “aka” My, favourite seabirds. Gannets! Their majestic dives and striking plumage never fail to amaze me. Here’s to celebrating these incredible birds and all the beauty they bring to our coastal skies! Bet you can't guess who's the Gannet lover of the Freeport Crew 🙂

Did You Know? 🪶
The Northern Gannet, one of the largest seabirds in the North Atlantic, is a common sight along the coastlines of Nova Scotia and the Bay of Fundy! They have a 6’ wing span and can weigh 5-8 lbs, these majestic birds are known for their dramatic plunge dives, often seen swooping from heights of over 100 feet to catch fish beneath the ocean’s surface. 🐟🌊
This is my favourite sight in the whole world, watching Gannets in actions, it truly is remarkable to see.

These seabirds are most easily recognized by their striking white bodies, contrasting black wingtips, and vibrant yellow heads- during breeding season. Juvenile Northern Gannets are dark brown with white speckles. This helps them blend into their surroundings from predators.
Growing from juvenile to adult usually takes about 4 to 5 years.

While out on the Bay, keep your eyes peeled for their breathtaking dives!

There's so much to say, I don't want to make you read for days 😁

Next time you’re on the water with us, make sure to ask us about these incredible birds.

Yesterday, August 7th, 2024, was a beautiful day on the Georgie Porgie! 🐋 By the afternoon, we were surrounded by a beautiful display of humpbacks, thrilling our guests with plenty of flipper slapping and tail flukes. The excitement didn't stop there! We met up with a lively pod of common dolphins, delighting everyone with their playful chase alongside our boat.

Dolphins are attracted to the bow waves created by moving boats. These waves help increase the dolphins speed, It’s like catching a free ride, we call this bow-riding. We believe it to be more of a playful activity for them more than anything. Stern-riding is similar. The wake created behind the boat gives the dolphins another playful activity, wave riding, which is very enjoyable for them. We love our dolphins! 💙

Nature's wonders were on full display, and we were lucky to witness it all! 🌊🐬
