3️⃣ Keep your hens safe and comfortable by providing a cozy chicken coop with food, water, shelter, and space for natural behaviours.
4️⃣ Store feed and manure in enclosed containers.
5️⃣ Notify the municipality of any hen health or welfare issues.

The heavy downpour that occurred at 3:00 pm this afternoon has caused damage to a portion of the road on 50th Ave.

Barricades have been set up around the section of damaged road as well as the south alley between 43rd St. and 44th St.

The Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre Emergency Department (ED) will now remain open and fully operational throughout the day on Tuesday, June 11.

While the ED will be temporarily closed Monday night beginning at midnight, a previous gap in physician coverage has been filled on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.

With current coverage, the ED will close at that time and reopen at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12.

The Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre Emergency Department (ED) will remain open and fully operational until midnight on Monday, June 10.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM Alberta Health Services

The Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre Emergency Department (ED) will be temporarily without physician coverage from 8 a.m. on Monday, June 10, until 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12.

Nursing staff will remain on-site in the ED to assess any patients who may present to the site, and to redirect them to alternate care options depending on their needs.

During this temporary closure patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency. Residents are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions.

Though these locations are not fully closed to the public, please be aware that this event will run from 8:00 a.m. to approximately 6:00 p.m. Please give the organization and participants plenty of space and feel free to cheer them on!

Parks that are impacted include:

🎓 HOLY TRINITY GRADUATION PARADE
Please be reminded that Holy Trinity Academy will be holding a graduation parade for their 2024 graduates today at 3:00 pm!

You may have noticed new street lights being installed on the East side of 50 Avenue and at the East end of 43 Avenue (leading up to the ring road and along the new walking path by the derricks).

The additional lights will provide enhanced illumination and safety in these areas. If you're one of our active residents who enjoys evening walks, this will help a lot with visibility!

The Town Of Drayton Valley is flushing the sanitary sewer mains In Aspenview this week (see attached map).

Flushing mains shouldn't cause issues for anyone, but it does have the potential to cause bubbling in toilets, and it can also drain the water out of the p-traps in your sink, shower, and floor drains.

Residents in the Aspenview area are advised to keep all toilet lids closed as a precaution, especially if you do not have backflow preventers installed on your sewer line.

If you notice an unpleasant smell in your house, it is likely because your p-trap has been drained. A simple way to eliminate the smell is to pour some water down the drain and refill the trap. Flushing your toilet can also be sufficient to refill a p-trap.

We would like to remind residents not to flush anything down toilets except toilet paper! Flushing these items can have serious and costly repercussions. While wipes and similar products may be branded as flushable, please DO NOT flush them. These items do not break down in the same fashion as toilet paper and will put unnecessary strain on sewer systems which can result in blockages and sewer back-ups. Wipes of any kind, as well as any paper product including paper towel, MUST be disposed of in the garbage. Toilet paper is the only product suitable to be flushed. Thanking about getting a FoodCycler!? Residents can choose between the 2.5 L, FC-30 model for $150+GST or the 5.0L, Maestro model for $300+GST. Participants will be provided with a simple tracking sheet to track how often they run the FoodCycler in a 12-week period. At the end of the 12 weeks, we hope participants will continue to use the Foodcycler units to divert food waste from the landfill! SNOW REMOVAL UPDATE FOR FEB. 5 Following last nights snow fall, our crews have been out doing some light snow removal around town and will be over the next few days. The amount of snow we received was not enough to trigger a full snow removal process. We will continue to monitor conditions if we need to declare a Seasonal Parking Ban or start working on priority routes. Our sanders will be out addressing any icy sections as well. If you see our crews/equipment out and about, please given them room to work safely. Our Parks crews have cleared all of our walking trails and will be out tomorrow assessing those areas. A reminder to residents to shovel your sidewalks to help everyone get around safely!

SNOW REMOVAL UPDATE Jan. 29 Crews have been focusing on clearing service roads, alleyways and gravel roads in the community and sanding where necessary. We will continue with these activities for the rest of the week.

SNOW REMOVAL UPDATE With the extreme temperatures set to continue over the weekend, our snow removal activities will be on hold. Our team will reassess the situation on Monday. Stay safe and warm, everyone!

SNOW REMOVAL ACTIVITIES Thurs., Jan. 11 We are happy to note that we were able to complete 90% of snow removal on priority 1 this morning! While our snow removal operations are on hold until the weather warms up, our crews were out sanding the roads. There are challenges to sanding during these extreme cold snaps. When temperatures dip below -21, the calcium and potash that is mixed into the sand no longer sticks to the ice/snow on the roads to improve traction. We understand that it is icy out there and we still have our sanders out doing what they can to improve conditions. Fri., Jan. 12 The forecast is calling for more cold weather with a high of -32 and wind chill pushing it to -38. Snow removal activates will remain on hold until the weather warms up.

The Drayton Valley RV Park is now offering electric scooter rentals and a Slip & Slide that will run every day this summer! There are two electric scooters that can be rented and driven all over town. Two hour, four hour or all day rentals are available. A waiver and damage deposit is required on all rentals and those under 18 require parental permission. The outdoor slip and slide will be running daily from 12 pm – 5 pm, weather permitting! Come and join the fun for $5 an hour - simply stop by the office to grab a wrist band and you’re good to go! Sno-cones are also available from 12 pm – 5 pm, weather permitting!
