Think you’re familiar with all the Drumheller communities? Well, have you heard of Eladesor? The origin of the name remains a mystery, but it’s a quirky nod to its neighboring hamlet. Eladesor is actually Rosedale spelled backward! Art O’Dwyer ran a small coal mine nearby, which helped put Eladesor on the map. The Canadian Pacific Railway established a siding here to transport coal, with trains stopping once a day to load up. Eladesor may be a quiet spot now, but its history still whispers through the Badlands, reminding us of Drumheller’s rich industrial past.
