The Saugeen Country Travel Guide was published for many years & after a hiatus of a few years, will hopefully return in 2021. We hope you enjoy exploring our region! The Saugeen Country Tourism Association is a non-profit organization that was formed approximately 25 years ago by a group of enthusiastic volunteers who recognized the need to promote the Saugeen Country region and let others know wh
at we have to offer. Saugeen Country generally consists of the interior areas of Bruce County, Grey County and North Wellington. Our boundaries are somewhat dictated by the beautiful Saugeen River system and its' tributaries. When you think of Saugeen Country this is what comes to mind: Scenic Nature, Beautiful Rivers and Lakes, Fishing, Canoing and Kayaking, Waterfalls, Golfing, Biking and Hiking, Camping, Artisans, Fall Fairs, Snowmobiling and Skiing – and best of all – the friendly, welcoming people in our many small towns and villages. Our region is just a one to two hour drive from most areas in the Golden Horseshoe region of southern Ontario. Saugeen Country – Close to Everything – Far from Ordinary.

Arthur Agricultural Society's Christmas Dinner and Dance featuring "Marion's Country Band" will be held at the Arthur Community Centre this Saturday, December 17th. Social time with appetizers begins at 6pm. Roast Beef Supper served at 7pm with music to follow. Great night out with friends, family or as your company Christmas party. Unfortunately the Chatsworth Santa Claus parade scheduled for tomorrow (Sat. Dec 17th) has been cancelled due to weather. Here are some photos from the 2014 parade. Wow....what a difference in the weather :)
Be sure to save the date for 2017! It's always the Saturday before Christmas around 10:30am.
The Chatsworth Santa Claus parade is always held on the Saturday before Christmas & it was a beautiful day for the 2014 parade on Dec 20th.....

Another week-end is upon us already! Christmas will be here before we know it! The Chesley Christmas Shoppe is open, Hanover Community Players present "Monster in the Closet", Elvis Tribute with Peter Irwin & the Memphis Rebels Christmas concert, Christmas lunch & entertainment with Santa, Holstein's non-motorized Santa Claus parade, Kincardine Community Singers Christmas Concert, West Grey Family Christmas, Markdale's Community "Christmas Joy" Choir Concert & the continuation of Owen Sound's Festival of Lights are some of the events, activities & performances taking place this week-end. Come shop & visit downtown stores with Mrs. Claus during Neustadt's Christmas in the Village today! Draw for a prize at each participating store at 4 pm. All ballots entered into a grand prize draw of $100 cash at the Tree Lighting Ceremony at Noah’s Inn parking lot at 4:30 pm.
There will be face painting, tattoos for kids, & an opportunity to visit with Mrs. Claus at the Community Hall Meeting Room from 2pm -4pm. (Enter through the kitchen).
Join the choir for carol singing, the lighting of the Christmas tree & the grand prize draw of $100 at Noah’s Inn parking lot at 4:30pm. The parade gets underway at 5pm. Santa & activities at arena following the parade!

It was a beautiful day for Christmas in the Village in Neustadt, Ontario on Sunday, Dec 7th. There were downtown kids activities, a live nativity scene, petting zoo, fire trucks & hoses. The Santa Claus parade took place at 2pm & St Peters Lutheran Church will have a choir service at 7pm. Enjoy the Lutheran Co-op Choir & the lighting of the Christmas tree from 4:30pm-5pm. To finish off the activities of the day, there will be free family roller skating at the arena from 3pm-4:30pm.

In addition to all the parades taking place this week-end, there are also many other things happening to celebrate the season! The Durham Community Choir Christmas Cantata, presentations of "Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" & "The Wizard of Oz", Hanover's Santa in the Square, breakfast with Santa in Clifford, Mount Forest Ladies Auxiliary annual Old Fashioned Christmas Vendor Show & Craft Sale, Harriston Curling Club's 9th annual Christmas Rocks House Tour, Neustadt's Christmas in the Village and Edgehill School's "Christkindl Market" are all taking place this week-end!

It's another busy week-end in Saugeen Country! Mount Forest & Southampton are having their Santa Claus parades tonight & the festivities continue through out the week-end with the Durham,
Dundalk, Kincardine, Hanover & Palmerston Santa Claus parades taking place on Saturday. The week-end of parades is capped off on Sunday with the Neustadt Santa Claus parade! The Durham Heritage Rail Bridge Lighting takes place on Wednesday, December 7th from 6pm - 7pm. The Durham Girls Band will be playing Christmas carols, watch the bridge light up and enjoy complimentary cookies with hot chocolate at downtown restaurants following the lighting! Happy Friday! There are so many great activities & events going on in Saugeen Country this week-end that sleep for me is going to be at a minimum. Mildmay, Paisley, Lucknow, Markdale, Harriston, Teeswater, Clifford, Arthur, Port Elgin, Walkerton & Ripley all have their Santa Claus parades this week-end!
Christmas in the Country, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Chesley Christmas Shoppe, Flesherton Farmers' Market Christmas Market, Durham Shopping Expo, Christmas Bazaar & Bake Sale at Saugeen Valley Nursing Home, the

Southampton Sparkles & Tree Lighting is happening tonight! Christmas in Southampton kicks off with Southampton Sparkles Night and Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Old Town Hall at 6:30pm. Wow! What a difference a day makes. 20 degrees & sunny yesterday and it's cold and rainy today with snow coming tonight. Even though the weather outside is frightful, you can enjoy some indoor shopping. You still have time to check out the 23rd Annual Christmas Craft Show at Stothart Hall in Priceville!
It runs until 3pm today & features 30 vendors with 2 floors of crafts & baking for all ages. Free admission & hot lunch available.

The Durham & District Horticultural Society is holding it's General Meeting tonight at 7 PM @ the Durham Town Hall. The guest speaker will be Theresa McLaughlin giving a wonderful presentation of the flora and fauna of Puerto Rico. Theresa took some amazing photos during her trip to this beautiful area. Tonight is opening night of the Kincardine Theatre Guild's production of "Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". Tickets are $25/adults & $20/16 and under and are available at the Box Office & J'Adorn (downtown Kincardine). Held at Kincardine Centre for the Arts. Port Elgin's annual kick off to Christmas is underway tonight with Shoppers Night and the Tree Lighting Ceremony at Coulter Parkette. Shoppers Night commences after the tree is lit with sales at all the local business.
