What's your favorite place to hike?
Happy Earth Day!! 🌎
My siblings cried out for me not to settle in this place, but I had no choice. The winds of Mother Earth carried me here...
I slept, enveloped in the soil that once nurtured my fallen family, her upturned roots clinging to my own as I quietly grew. One day, I uncurled and burst into the sunlight.
My limbs stretched for the warmth. My siblings lamented. How could I thrive with so little instability? Would I be able to stay here forever, or would I succumb to my precarious cradle?
I have thrived here for a few years now, but time will tell...
What do you enjoy most about getting outdoors? Tell me in the comments!
10km at Crimson Lake with my adventure buddy, !!
After a bit of a pivot from our original plans at Brazeau Canal, we decided to scoot down to Crimson Lake Park and hike the Amerada Trail!
It's always good to have a backup trail in case your first plan doesn't pan out!
I hope everyone is having a great start to their April!
There will be some changes to the page going forward. A name change from "Access Adventure Hiking" to "Take a Hike With Meg". This was due to feedback that the name sounded a bit too corporate.
My page and blog are meant to feel inviting, inspiring, and encouraging, so please tell me what you would like to see more of in your scroll sessions! Photos, stories, info... more art? Ha ha.
Please don't forget to like and share! Oh! And school is out for the summer (Phew!) so keep an eye out for more content and website updates! It's adventure time!! ⛰❤️🌲⛺️
Snack Sunday!
Today, I tried the Backpacker's Pantry Pasta and Spring Vegetables with Butter Sauce.
It rehydrated nicely! The texture was good, and it was ready in 8 minutes. The package recommended more time, but I was impatient.
The taste was good! It was a little on the salty side, but I enjoyed the peas and sauce.
It is lower in protein (13 grams), so go for a different meal or supplement if you need higher protein intake.
Would buy again!
Well, maybe it's a lil bit true 🤏
Happy World Forest Day!
May we never forget the simple joy of walking through the woods, and may our forests always be well looked after for providing us solace and connection 🌲🌳🏕🥾💚
🌱🌳
It was glacier kissed winds, soaring down from great, proud peaks set against bluebird skies. The evergreens combed the mountain's sigh... Perfumed with sharp alpine notes, it was this wind that danced in my memory and seemed to tug at my limbs.
I closed my eyes and let the memory whisper its wild song, filling me with longing.
Though I am not there, I can hear the echoing crunch of mud and gravel trails beneath my feet, like a call from an old friend. Beckoning.
I cannot answer now. My heart aches for those trails, but I do not fear. The call will come again. And I will wander...
🏔
Sunday Snack time!
On today's menu, Alpen Fuel Coconut Mango Granola! Gluten-free, and it has an ingredient list that you can actually pronounce!
It's fruity and tropical. Delicious!! 👍
Happy International Women's Day!
Winter camping at Elk Island last year with some of my favorite people!
Well hello, intrepid adventurers!
I have been very quiet here for some time. I am just finishing up my first term in my first year of Communication studies.
What a wild ride! I have been so inspired by my classes and instructors. I really hope you will all be able to enjoy the subtle and wonderful evolution that my writing is undergoing.
And guess what else... I FINALLY have my website up! Please go check it out:
https://accessadventurehiking.wordpress.com/
It really means a lot to me to finally have a platform that I can post larger projects on, and I'm SO excited for the opportunities it will allow me to have! I am still experimenting with it a bit, so please offer feedback or notify me if anything isn't working properly.
Thanks for your continued patience and support 💙💛

Break Through Fear. Hike With Confidence
Truth and Reconciliation
I am not going to profess to having a great amount of knowledge about Indigenous history. The only education I got about it was the paltry Social Studies Units in our Alberta curriculum. I am hoping to improve my knowledge.
What I do know is that I love the land that I go out to explore. One of my core values now is helping to protect it. That includes indigenous history, and understanding it better so that we might do better. Not just for the land, but the people, too.
Let's learn. Let's do better at being kind and accepting. Of all people.
Truth and Reconciliation. Peace and Love.
Baxter says, "Woof!!" Which translates to "Happy Saturday!"
He hopes everybody gets to enjoy some fun adventures this weekend with their favorite hiking buddies! ❤️🐶
Bottom's up! Be bold and dive head first into your week! Have a great Monday!

The 10km Amerada Trail loop at Crimson Lake! This beginner friendly trail is a great way to train for distance and test out some gear. The trail is mostly flat and very manageable for those who are not yet ready to tackle steep or hilly trails. #beginnerhike #takeahike #rockymountainhousealberta #crimsonlakeprovincialpark #ameradatrail #getoutandstayout❤️
Have you ever heard Beavers talking and chewing on their breakfast? These guys swam right up under the dock and had a conversation while they chomped away! #beavers #elkislandnationalparkalberta #canadianwildlife #soundsofnature #hikinglife #accessadventure
Pleasantly surprised with how nice this little tent is! This Mountainsmith Bear Creek 2P tent is fairly lightweight, simple setup, reasonably sized, and budget friendly at less than $200!! A great entry level piece of equipment! #mountainsmith #backpackingtent #backpackinggear #entrylevelbackpacking #beginnerhikers #backpacking #hikinglife #hikinglife #accessadventure
Nordegg trip! @michelle_living_the_wildlife and I did a daytrip to Nordegg and hiked this stunning trail on August 5th! While the area was busy, I had forgotten that it was a long weekend. This is truly a gem of an area with so many places to go and explore. So long as you don't cross into the Banff park boundary, no permit is required to go for a dayhike! Please remember to #leavenotrace and keep these areas beautiful 💙 #wildandfree #nordeggalberta #bluelakesandrockyshores🇨🇦 #accessadventure #blueblueblue💙 #beautifulmountains⛰️ #hikinglife
