The 100ml liquids rule – what’s that?
When travelling by air, any liquids, gels and aerosols in your carry-on can’t exceed 100ml per container. Examples include shampoo, lotion, perfume, toothpaste and sunscreen. In addition, all these containers must fit in a clear 1L resealable bag. Anything more needs to be packed in a checked bag.
Here are some exemptions:
1. Baby food – travelling with an infant under 2? You can bring baby food, milk and liquid formula in larger quantities.
2. Breast milk –whether you’re flying with or without your baby, breast milk in allowed in larger quantities too.
3. Medications – essential prescription and non-prescription medication can be packed in quantities greater than 100ml as well. Just keep them in their original containers identifying the medication.
4. Duty-free items – duty-free items that are properly sealed in an official security bag with an itemized receipt do not count towards your liquids allowance.
Be ready to remove these items from your carry-on for inspection at security.
