5 reasons why we ❤️ beluga whales:

1) Often described as "gentle giants" these highly social creatures are known to form strong bonds with their pods, and will often swim and play together.

2) They are highly curious, often approaching boats and people in the water to investigate.

3) They communicate using a variety of clicks, whistles and squeals, and some even imitate human speech!

4) Beluga whales have also been known to use tools, such as rocks and pieces of ice, to break open clams.

5) They always look like they're smiliing!

Reminder that we have multiple tour options for you to get up close and meet these beautiful animals in person in Churchill, Manitoba!

Nunavut Day was celebrated across the territory on Saturday, July 9th. Nunavut was established as it's own Canadian territory in 1999! The annual occasion commemorates the enforcement of the 1993 Nunavut Land Claims Agreement Act, a critical steps in creating Nunavut. The act officially declared Nunavut a distinct region legally separate from the Northwest Territories.

Happy Waterfall Wednesday!
Today we admire Athabasca Falls. The Athabasca River flows from the Columbia Icefield through Jasper National Park, Alberta. With an 80 foot drop, over time the force of the falls have created a canyon. As the water cascades into the gorge, the force of the falls is so strong that it causes one millimetre of stone to be chipped away each year! There is a 1 km hike you can take from the parking lot, with a paved trail that bridges over the gorge.
