I experienced being trapped in a box when I was a teenager.
The people around me had (naturally, as people do) mentally categorized who I was and what I was about and, although over time it ceased to be accurate, I couldn't break out of the preconceptions. I so badly wanted to be seen anew. To have who I was inside to burst forth and be acknowledged.
I wish I had had an experience wherein someone saw ME. An opportunity to have someone hold up a mirror for me to really see myself. To look myself in the eyes with love and KNOW that everything that I wished I could be was already there.

I have never met anyone who is only one thing, who could possibly be pigeon-holed. Perhaps that is why it is so hard to define ourselves. We are infinitely complex and utterly limitless. A jewel with so many extraordinary facets that many people aren't even aware of all of the ways in which they are capable of sparkling...

Celebrate Mothers
Do you have a mother who hides from the camera? I do.
They think of everything, are capable of everything. Kissing hurts, giving love, joy, comfort, care, nourishment, support, discipline... In addition to that, they are the ones documenting all of the milestones and accomplishments. But who is documenting them?
I am in awe of the women around me. Particularly the mothers. The number of hats that they wear, if not always with ease, then with great grace.
Amie let down her customary messy bun for the day and allowed herself some time and space to get pampered, done up and photographed.
