Day 14-17. Our Alaska Midnight Sun tour comes to an end today, with drop offs in Alberta enroute. Over the last few days, we’ve managed to complete the Alaska Highway, seeing the sights we missed on the way north due to highway closures due to the wildfires north and south of Fort Nelson. Roads were good, but there was significant fire damage from these two wildfire areas to be seen as we travelled south.

Day 13 - once again, our Alaska Midnight Sun guests lucked out and got a beautiful day to take the trip from Whitehorse to Skagway Alaska and back, including the ride on the famous White Pass and Yukon Route train over the White Pass. Enjoy the scenery, which you have to really be there in person to truly experience. This tour runs in June and July every year, so if you’re seeing things you like, join us in 2026!

Day 11 and 12 of Alaska Midnight Sun. Leaving Anchorage, we stopped at the Musk Ox Farm in Palmer to learn about these unique arctic animals, then drove up the scenic Matanuska Valley for a stop at Matanuska Glacier. After a dinner with a view of the Glacier at Long Rifle Lodge, we continued to Tok for another night at Young’s Motel. From Tok we headed back to Whitehorse. This drive is really only 390 miles or so, but due to rough road conditions on this hardest stretch of the Alaska Highway for builders and maintainers, it took all day. We passed Kluane Lake and Kluane National Park and Reserve, home to Mount Logan, Canada’s highest mountain at over 19000 feet, but it can’t be seen from the road.

Day 9 and 10 of our Alaska Midnight Sun tour - we travel from Fairbanks to Anchorage, and then drive along Turnagain Arm to head out to the Portage Glacier Cruise, then return to Anchorage for some free time. Many of our guests took a guided sightseeing trolley ride when we got back to really see Anchorage at its best.

Getting a bit behind on posts, but here is day 7 and 8 of Alaska Midnight Sun. We departed Dawson City to take the Top of the World highway, a road that climbs above the tree line and enters Alaska at North America’s most northerly border crossing checkpoint. We continued to Tok on the Alaska Highway for overnight. On day 8, we continued to Delta Junction, the end of the Alaska Highway. Due to wildfire, we haven’t seen the start of the Alaska Highway yet! It is looking good for our trip home to see the parts we haven’t seen though. Then, on to Santa Claus House at North Pole AK, and finally our sightseeing in Fairbanks, our northen-most point of the tour - 140 miles directly south of the Arctic Circle, 10 miles more north than Dawson City!

Alaska Midnight Sun - Day 5 and 6. On the North Klondike Highway to Dawson City. We’ve finally made it to our first two-night stay, and our furthest-north stop in Canada. We’re only 150 miles south of the Arctic Circle in this historic town from the last major Gold Rush in the world. The town has been recognized for its historic nature by Parks Canada, it is a National Historic Site known as the Dawson Historical Complex.

North! To Alaska! They go north, the rush is on. Day 3 and Day 4 for our Alaska Midnight Sun group was scenery on end. This was using the Cassiar Highway Route due to wildfire closure of the Alaska Highway in Northern BC. We got to see some things unique to this routing.

Our British Columbia Circle tour just returned this last weekend, and our Tour Director Barb sent in these great group photos. This tour includes the fantastic Inside Passage Cruise on BC Ferries Northern Expedition from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert, a truly scenic experience.

Our Alaska Midnight Sun tour for 2025 is on the road, on the second day. Due to forest fire, the Alaska Highway route is closed in Northern BC currently, so we’re taking the Yellowhead and Cassiar Highways to reach the Yukon. Last night we were in Hinton, wonderful welcome dinner at Ricky’s Restaurant and a good night’s rest. Tonight, we’ll be in Smithers BC, and tomorrow night in Watson Lake - back on route and on schedule. These are just a few views of our trip so far.
