Our Cross Canada by Motorcoach tour has reached Eastern Canada. We’ve met those that flew into Toronto for the Eastern Canada and Best of the Maritimes tour and started out with a visit to the Niagara Region and then Toronto touring, heading off to finish the day yesterday in historic Kingston ON.

The Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore and Medora tour group has spent the last few days exploring the Black Hills in South Dakota and Wyoming, and then moved on to the North Dakota Badlands where we enjoyed the Medora Musical, that ended our tour with a bang! Today we travel north into Saskatchewan to over night in Swift Current, and tomorrow back to our home area drop offs. What’s great group and fantastic tour it has been!

Our Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore and Medora Musical group has been on the road since Saturday, and what an adventure it has been! Yellowstone National Park, the first National Park in the US, is full of scenery and wonder. After a couple of days there, we continued on to Cody Wyoming, and today arrived in Deadwood South Dakota, not without a big detour around a massive grass fire on the high plains of Wyoming.

As news comes rolling in of damages and destruction in Jasper and Jasper National Park from wildfires, our hearts go out to the evacuees and businesses affected by this tragedy. We, along with all Albertans, hope for the best outcome possible for all involved, and add our praises to the firefighters and other emergency workers trying to save as much in Jasper as they can. We are monitoring the situation for any concerns related to our upcoming tours passing through the area, which won’t be for a few weeks. Any decisions regarding changes necessary will be made closer to tour departure dates.

Our Cold Lake Getaway group spent our day at the Cold Lake Airshow, Canada’s largest military airshow. Unfortunately, it was too smoky for much flying to happen. They did have two CF-18 fighters from the Demo team do some low passes, and the CH-149 Cormorant Search and Rescue helicopter did some demonstrations, but those were the only aircraft capable of going up in these conditions. There were lots of aircraft to see in the ground, some people could go into to look around. There was a car show, vendors, food trucks. It was still a good day, even without the flying.

Yesterday our Alaska Midnight Sun tour did a day trip from Whitehorse to Skagway and back, including a morning break at Carcross and trip on the Scenic Railway of the World, the White Pass and Yukon. This engineering marvel, completed in 26 months 1898-1900 from Skagway to Whitehorse is one of the true world-class attractions in this part of the North. Today is the Summer Solstice, and we leave North of 60 today as we start down the Cassiar Highway on the way home. 19 hours and 9 minutes of sunlight today in Whitehorse.

Three days! We drove along Turnagain Arm to go to Portage Glacier and then returned to Anchorage on Day 10, then on Day 11 we left Anchorage and headed back to Tok and finally today, Day 12, we passed over the Canadian border and returned back to Whitehorse, finishing the Alaska Highway along the way.

Our Alaska Midnight Sun group has travelled from Watson Lake to Whitehorse, and then from Whitehorse to Dawson City. Dawson City is 150 direct air miles south of the Arctic Circle, and the sun sets after midnight and rises between 3:00 and 4:00 am at this time of the year.

Today’s post will cover the last few days of travel and sightseeing of our Alaska Midnight Sun tour, early June version. We also have a departure later in June, that may still have some room on it. These photos cover the Grande Prairie to Fort Nelson (day 2) and Fort Nelson to Watson Lake (day 3, today). Descriptions in captions. We saw an amazing amount of wildlife today. Tomorrow we continue across southern Yukon to Whitehorse.

Our Victoria Stay Awhile tour has been visiting Victoria BC this week. One of the attractions in Victoria at this time of the year are all of the spring flowers. Our group got to see an abundance at Butchart Gardens with Driver Bill and Tour Director Sharon.

A recent study by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (January 2023) reinforces the claim that the Motorcoach, when compared with other transportation modes, outperformed in terms of energy efficiency and is among the best performing for all pollutant types. Our Deep South guests have been travelling in the sunny skies of the prairies as they return from their southern vacation. Yesterday we travelled from the Black Hills in South Dakota to Williston for our last night all together and a great farewell dinner. Today we are back in Canada, entering this morning at Oungre Saskatchewan and now saying goodbye to our fellow travellers as we start dropping off our friends on our way to Swift Current.

Our Deep South trip has been travelling for a couple of days, yesterday was a winter storm day. Thankfully it wasn’t as bad as forecast and while driving was difficult we managed to get everything in that we wanted to. We ended the day in Deadwood SD at the Mineral Palace Hotel in the historic downtown district.

Yesterday was our last day of Deep South visiting as we toured Memphis, TN. A city tour showed off central Memphis and some of the attractions, with some free time on Beale Street, famous as home of the Blues, for lunch and shopping. It was very busy because Memphis is hosting the NCAA Basketball championships. The afternoon was spent at Graceland, with included tours not only of Elvis’s mansion but also access to the museums and the two airplanes on display. Now we’re travelling towards some stops in the Black Hills of South Dakota, overnight tonight in Kansas City.

Yesterday, our Deep South tour group got a guided tour of New Orleans, and then in the afternoon a cruise on the last steam-powered Sternwheeler on the Mississippi - the SS Natchez. Today is a travel day to Memphis, starting out with crossing the astounding Lake Ponchartrain Causeway, at 24 miles long the longest bridge over continuous water in the world. We had a Cracker Barrel stop for lunch in the Jackson MS area and are on our way to our Memphis area hotel now.

An exciting day for our Deep South passengers as we travelled to New Orleans! We visited Baton Rouge along the way and then spent a good time at Oak Alley Plantation before coming into the French Quarter in the Crescent City for the next two nights.
