We have some “river-ting” stats for you on 💧🏞

1️⃣ Canada is home to many wild rivers, which remain untouched by human activity. These types of rivers are scarce throughout the world, but Canada’s north is home to many and is vital to supporting the diversity of wildlife and combating climate change.

2️⃣ Most of Canada’s rivers flow north! Nearly 40% of our water drains into the Hudson Bay and another 35% goes to the Arctic Ocean.

3️⃣ The Grand River watershed is the largest in southern Ontario - at 6,800 square KM, it’s about the same size as the province of Prince Edward Island!

On Canadian Rivers Day, we promote the importance of preserving the heritage and health of Canada’s rivers. We hope you spend the day spending some time outdoors appreciating our rivers and all nature has to offer!
