🚴‍♀️Meet the Bikes & Blues team 🚴‍♀️

Julie is a PhD candidate at the University of Waterloo, and a self-proclaimed water nerd! She is fascinated by seeing how our local waterways change with seasons and each year (so much so, that it’s the focus of her research)! Julie believes that cycling is the perfect speed to notice these changes and to develop a relationship with our watershed. She is greatly looking forward to being a ride guide this year at the Bike and Blues Festival.

Thank you for sharing your passion, Julie!   👏

Come ride with Julie this weekend at the Bikes & Blues Festival on Aug 24 at the Wellington County Museum & Archives, Elora.

🚴🏽‍♀️Ride registration closes Thursday at 5pm. Spots are limited.

🎟️ Grab advance festival tickets online ($28.50) 🔗Link in bio or buy tickets at the gate for $30. Can’t wait to see you soon! 🌊

🚴 Meet the Bikes & Blues ride leaders 🚴

Hal Armstrong has lived in Fergus for 40 years. Over this time, his cycling journey has evolved from mountain biking during its infancy to road riding, and now primarily gravel riding. Along with a group from Fergus/Elora, he started the Gorge Cycling Club in the mid-90s. Today, he is a member of the Great Canadian Bike Tours (GCBT) club.

Hal is a professional engineer who recently retired from Nexans in Fergus after 39 years. He has been active with the Elora Cataract Trailway Association over the years. In the winter, he is an avid snowmobiler and continues to ride his mountain bike when the snow conditions are not ideal.

We are thrilled to have you on the team, Hal! 👏

🚴Meet the Bikes & Blues ride leaders 🚴

Steve is a semi-retired hydrogeologist with over 30 years of professional experience working in the water industry as a researcher and consultant. He is also an avid cyclist. Steve appreciates how Water Cycles combines these two passions of his. He believe that the best way to explore watersheds, lakes, streams, wetlands is by bicycle. The festival is a great event to learn about water and to meet like-minded people who share a passion for cycling and water.

You can learn more about Steve through his online newsletter that focuses on water at: https://thewaterdroplet.substack.com/

Thanks for joining us Steve! 🙌
