Hubbard Glacier is a glacier located in eastern Alaska and part of the Yukon Territory in Canada. It is one of the largest glaciers in North America, with a length of 76 miles (122 km) and a height of approximately 400 feet (122 m) above sea level. The glacier has been advancing and retreating along its length since it was first observed by European explorers in the late 19th century. It is named after Gardiner Greene Hubbard, an American lawyer and inventor who was instrumental in the founding of the National Geographic Society. The glacier is a popular destination for sightseeing tours and cruises in the area.
The Changing of the Guard ceremony is a popular tourist attraction outside London's Buckingham Palace. It occurs every day from April through July and on alternate days for the rest of the year, unless the weather is too severe.
The ceremony takes place when the Old Guard, the soldiers who have been on duty and guarding the Palace, is relieved by the New Guard. These soldiers are dressed in traditional red tunics and bearskin hats and are accompanied by a band playing music.
The ceremony begins at St. James's Palace where the New Guard assembles and then marches through the streets to Buckingham Palace. Then, the Old Guard assembles in the Palace Forecourt, and both groups perform a formal hand-over of responsibility of the Palace's defenses.
The ceremony lasts around 45 minutes, and visitors often gather around the Palace gates to watch. It is recommended to arrive early to secure a good viewing spot, and there is usually a large crowd, especially during the busy tourist season.
