Statement on Cuba
The government of Canada and our tour operators are advising there is a shortage of basic necessities in Cuba
The advisory is not a high level risk to the safety and security of our clients, however the travel experience is
not at a standard the management of Maritime Travel is comfortable with and therefore we would discourage
any further bookings until the situation in Cuba improves.
Supporting this direction is our suppliers who are also offering options to cancel or make changes to immediate
travel departures.
From the Government of Canada it states:
Since October 18, 2024, Cuba has been experiencing a nationwide power outage, including in Havana. There is
no conirmation on when electricity services will be restored. Most hotels and resorts use generators during
power outages. However, they may not be able to maintain their services should the outage persist.
Monitor local media for the latest information
Plan accordingly
More on the shortages from the Government of Canada site is found on the link below.

We understand that we have customers familiar and willing to travel to Cuba despite our recommendation to
the contrary. It should be advised that they now do so at their own risk while these conditions persist.
We will continue to support our clients who are currently booked advising of their options as presented by the
tour operators, while monitoring the situation closely.

“At this time the government of Canada just says exercise a high degree of caution (level2 risk advisory), with
the exception of Guantanamo and Holguin(level 3 risk advisory), which does state to avoid non-essential travel.
Insurance will provide coverage in the event it was purchased prior to a level 3 or 4 warning (risk advisory).
Once the warning is posted, it is considered a known reason , restricting coverage”
