We LOVE reading our guest's letters. As I was making the beds, I heard Jason giggling from the living room as he reread this favourite from 2022. "It was really great to finally get away from our bratty kids for once. The only thing that would have made it better is if my wife stayed home as well. I guess you can't have it all! The hot tub was awesome and the cabin was perfect. Hope to be back some day!" 😂

Stay at Little Bluestem Cottage or Knotty Gnome Cabin and take the time to see a quilt display
in honour of Residential School Survivor at the Huron County Museum in Goderich.
The temporary exhibit features 10 quilts made with the same Journey Home fabric panel that were then individually quilted to provide hope and comfort to the survivor who will receive the quilts at the end of the exhibit.
This project was initiated by Miss Kettle & Stony Point Jr., Jaylynn Wolfe, and her mother Laura. After finding 10 Journey Home panels, they approached the Kincardine Sunset Quilters Guild to see if they would be interested in making one quilt for them.
The group quickly offered to make all 10 quilts that each tell a different story. These stories are shared with each quilt in the exhibit. The guild gifted the quilts back to Jaylynn, who will then gift them to residential school survivors of Kettle & Stony Point
First Nation after the exhibit closes on Sept. 3.
The exhibit is available during regular hours at the Museum and is included with regular admission or free with a Museum membership or Huron County Library card.
For more information about the exhibit, visit www.HuronCountyMuseum.ca

It was cool to see the railway car walls again as we do a little fixing up to make Little Bluestem even cozier. Ben is putting in a few new windows so we are insulating the walls as we go. I learned a new task...cutting and stuffing insulation. It was quite satisfying actually...very systematic and puzzle-like, fitting the pieces.

It takes a lot of wood to fuel the hot tub, fireplace and firepit so today we got caught up on the giant ash in Jason's yard. He's a pro and tackled the big chunks with his Stihl. This was my first time using a chainsaw and honestly, I was plenty nervous. I have a rich imagination and I could vision the saw slicing off my leg or kicking back and slicing into my face. 😧 But with some instruction from Jason and a nice little chainsaw from my dad, I went for the branch pile and got 'r done. Teamwork!

Waiting and watching for the deer to show up...the hot tub is right on the edge of a 30 acre bush and we've seen them several times now. Always a thrill!
