Where will travel fit in now?

That’s something that all who travel are contemplating at the moment. Here is a perspective for entertainment purposes only. (From someone who has been sent terrible harassing messages from fellow Canadians)

Yes, you did read that right- the messages I have received from grown men cussing and wishing bad things on me… they have ALLLL been Canadian- thinking I am an American. (Food for thought)

But, the real question is, with all this upheaval, how will travel fit into our lives moving forward?

While many would agree that we have to recalibrate how we do business in our own country, this is primarily due to lessening economic impact, and to hold our ground as a sovereign nation. Which is imperative when faced with the “challenge” at hand.

However, when it comes to travel, while one may not want to spend any time in the US, it will remain a stepping stone to other beautiful countries. And one must then consider the value placed on experience, and if this outweighs the threat of missing out on life.

The vast majority of those in the US are saddened, to say the least. They have lost control of their government, and are acutely aware. Those citizens do NOT want this- and our anger should not be directed at the population as a whole. To punish many for the act of few seems like an unstable reaction to an unstable threat.

Chad received a “comment” the other night, and this snippet of his rebuttal I think sums it up nicely;

“At the end of the day we briefly pass through the US but mostly support other economies. But the most important part is that we are supporting maritime families. Our agency is working hard to support our families, the business and families of our New Brunswick bussing company, and the NB hotels that we book and recommend pre stay. All of our taxes are paid right here.”

While a pause was needed to be thoughtful in moving forward, the decision has been made to NOT eliminate embarkation ports from the US. If this angers you, I don’t discredit your feelings, but ask you to quietly exit- without further harassment.

Thank you to the many who are still planning, booking and traveling. Life is far too short to allow one man to dictate our direction. Part of standing strong is to remain unscathed. And while we are in unprecedented times, I admire, and also share, your desire to maintain normalcy. This too shall pass.

Peace and prosperity to all in Canada, and to all in the the world. Do NOT divide- show compassion, and grace… We are Canadians, after all.
