We want to share our love of Wellington County by pointing out the culinary links between our rural heritage and our growers and makers of today. This region has deep agricultural roots, so food – fresh, good, local, food – comes naturally to us. We celebrate the power of a full plate, cup, or bowl, to bring people and communities together.

This isn’t something I often pay attention to, even feels a bit icky to ask, but times are still weird out there. Many thanks with love.

Taste Detours hosted a corporate event for our team of 18 people. It was a big hit! It was a mix of learning about the history of Guelph and discovering new places to eat! The food was delicious and plentiful! Lynn was a fabulous host who customized our tour and kept our group engaged. I would definitely recommend this tour! (In fact I already have to other areas in my organization). You won’t be disappointed!

Once again, couldn’t be more proud to be a member of 10C Shared Space.

From Guelph Mercury Tribune:

10C’s new social enterprise Nourish Café and patio to open in time for Food Day Canada
Sandwiches and meals will be available for purchase throughout the week

Community members are invited to the launch of 10C Shared Space’s new Nourish Cafe on Saturday, Aug. 3, to meet the chefs and tour the Nourish Kitchen.

Local food lovers and entrepreneurs are invited to the launch of 10C Shared Space’s new Nourish Café in Downtown Guelph.

The café, located at 42 Carden St, will have its launch on Saturday, Aug. 3 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., just in time to celebrate Food Day Canada, which is all about “engaging and inspiring everyone to shop, cook and dine Canadian,” a release about the café said.

10C already operates a commercial kitchen on its fourth floor, which members can pay to make use of. There are currently more than 15 food businesses that use the space to make their products.

The new street-level café and patio are a way for members of the Nourish Kitchen to offer products and meals directly to customers in downtown Guelph.

Nourish Café will be a social enterprise, which according to Social Enterprise Ontario’s website, is an organization that “produces goods and services for the market economy and that manage their operations and redirect their surpluses to achieve social and environmental goals.”

Five different Nourish members — Tempeh Goodness, Pi-vate Chef, Munch Eats, Ona’s Bakery and Clay Pot Catering — will be featured at the café, with each food offering celebrating local food and food creation.

10C staff will also be offering tours of the Nourish Kitchen where guests can meet the chefs before enjoying their food and drinks in the sunroom or on the patio.

Beginning in August, the Nourish Café will offer pre-made meals and sandwiches every week day, so people can stop by and grab a quick meal while supporting small food businesses in Guelph.

“We have been working really hard to create a supportive and dynamic ecosystem for small food entrepreneurs, supporting them in the early stages of their journey by offering low-cost (and low-risk) kitchen space as well as retail opportunities and providing space for learning and collaborating with other kitchen members,” said Nathan Lawr, 10C’s operation lead and kitchen manager, in the release.

“The Nourish Café is the logical next step, and it is very exciting to finally be rolling it out,” he said. “The potential is huge.”

Making use of the main floor space at 10C for food services has been in consideration since 10C moved to its location on Carden Street in 2017.

“We’re excited to take the first steps in creating this new shared space in collaboration with the wonderful food entrepreneurs working in the Nourish Kitchen,” said Julia Grady, 10C’s executive director, in the release.

“We envision that as we build this food offering, we will also help to create more social connections, so needed in today’s society,” said Grady.

For any questions about the café, how to become a Nourish member or how to support local food entrepreneurs through 10C, email Lawr at [email protected].

Grab the latest Summer issue of Toque Ltd Mag! Read it all, bien sûr, but perhaps linger on pages 46 & 47 😉.

It’s a scan of the beautiful Gather In Guelph media tour weekend. A nod to our mini morning tour and shots of the dinner we organized at Spring Mill Distillery, featuring…

✅ upcycled hors d’œuvres by Chef Kay representing The SEED Community Food Project
✅ stunning apps by Chef Pi ( on Insta who feeds many from the shared & collaborative community kitchen, Nourish at 10C Shared Space)
✅ epic mains by Chef Scott McIlwee of Borealis Grille & Bar - Guelph
✅ perfect desserts by Megan Ferraro of Cellar Bakery.

It was spectacular to have made new connections. A special shout out to Christine and her team at Spring Mill too, for working so hard that night.

Oh and my beautiful team of servers, thanks to Gina Giammarco.

Such a good story to tell our visiting journalists. Thank you all 🙏

Big fat celebration for this guy’s 90th today, where the family will be a riot of singing and dancing and laughing.

My Dad and long gone Mum planted the seeds of curiosity and exploration in me by taking us all over the world as children —introducing me to new faces, cultures and foodways.

Lucky me. He’s the livingest guy I know.

Guelph’s chefs cherish circularity, local fare and farm-to-table experiences while creating globally inspired cuisine. And Guelph is home to some of Ontario’s best craft breweries and distilleries with plenty of award hardware to show for it. Gather and raise a glass!

Story of my life.

I get one photo of the gorgeous pear walnut pizza by the absolute rockstars that are Atmosphere cafe + etc. on today’s entire tour. Oy!

Not pictured is the perpetually missed and loved Eric the Baker special mini sausage rolls, Majestic Water Buffalo Meat😋, Olive Haven best ever 4 spreads, Fengs Dumplings, Tempeh Goodness panini (goodness indeed), Ona’s Bakery fantastic beef AND chicken pouchak, Miijidaa Café + Bistro’s gargantuan spread of beef cheek boats, deep fried goats cheese and more pizza!!

We then lumbered our full bellies down through St. George’s Square and forced ourselves to try a perfect macaron at the always Parisian feeling Wellington Cakes.

I feel like I left someone out. Surely not?

In my defense, I’m not the best at snapping pics in the moment, but would much rather be in the moment IRL with my tour eaters. Talking to and about the businesses, the streets, the history. Talking to each other.

I clearly need a social whiz kid to follow us around.

We had a beautiful day, you’ll just have to trust me on that.

This was my Friday morning.
It’s taken me this long to recover and catch-up with other work but what a brilliant day it was!

Launching the new Gather In Guelph, and showing off ’s many things to do, eat, see, and celebrate to visiting journalists from Toronto.

Of course we had the sun to boot ☀️

Just wait until you see the wonder of that evening. I’ll just have to borrow someone else’s pics for that 😰.

Thanks to Eric the Baker TOMME Cheese Shop Wellington Cakes, and Kapow Ice Cream for being open / available in the a.m. And to Brothers Brewing Company for opening a teensy bit early for that all important breakfast beer sampler.

Many more people to thank for the evening portion, hang tight…

There are ways around this news prohibition…

Nourish Kitchen can be found at the top of 10C Shared Space, and it’s the stuff of Taste Detours dreams. Read on 👇

Nourish Kitchen has flourished since its launch in September 2019 by giving small food businesses a place to start.

The initial vision for the shared kitchen at 10C is finally coming to fruition, said Nathan Lawr, community operations lead at 10C.

The idea of a shared kitchen or a ghost kitchen where multiple food businesses work out of the same space is relatively new for Guelph, he said.

At Nourish, the commercial grade kitchen can be booked by the hour or monthly through a packaged rate.

What the shared kitchen concept allows people to do is start their food business without the expensive overhead costs. It makes it less financially intense and it's about $1,000 to get set up as a business through the kitchen.

Part of what Lawr is focused on for the future of the kitchen is to help members scale up their businesses. He likes to tell people at Nourish “I hope one day, we're too small for you.”

One of the newest things the kitchen has started is the Nourish Market Booth at the Guelph Farmers’ Market. The booth features rotating prepared food and other products from Nourish members.

Lawr plans to set up a pop-up at 10C so people can sell their food onsite.

There are about 15 regular users of the kitchen whose businesses include Piccolo Farm Organics, Ona’s Bakery, Rodolfo’s Rebel Foods and more. Since 2022, Nourish has supported 55 community food projects and enterprises.

Sara Bullard founded Lady Sara’s Bounty and has been with the kitchen since the start. She was a florist and left the industry to pursue something new. Her meal prep business provides rotating seasonal dishes for busy people who might not always have time to cook.

Working in a shared kitchen has been fun for her.

“I feel like we all want each other to succeed. There’s no competition. It’s very welcoming. It’s a great place to work,” said .

Without the space at Nourish she wouldn’t be able to run her business otherwise.

It isn’t easy to be a restaurant owner these days especially with rising food prices. There is a lot of pressure and there are people struggling to find employment. “So they're striking out on their own,” said Lawr.

In many cases people will turn their hobbies, family recipes and skills into a food business of their own. Since the operating overhead like equipment and licenses from the city is already taken care of it’s “kind of a game changer in a lot of ways, because then you can just kind of get started. And our kitchen is designed to help people get started,” said Lawr.

An interesting part about a shared kitchen is it naturally allows for collaboration. Members socialize, make new friends and work on recipes together.

One day Clement Kurnia who co-founded Tempeh Goodness and Pi Reyes, owner of Private Chef, worked together to create tempeh bacon. They went up and down 10C asking people what version of tempeh bacon they liked best.

Lawr wants to lean into this kind of collaboration more so people can experiment with food in a low stakes environment since it’s when the magic really happens.

Nourish started as a community resource and now is growing to become a food business incubator.
