Let us offer you some suggestions on how to soak up the last of summer in Guelph while also avoiding traffic from the University of Guelph’s students' move-in weekend this Friday, August 30th and Saturday, August 31st ☀! For Road Closure Information scroll down⬇️

Hike, Bike, or Paddle at Guelph Lake and Rockwood Conservation Areas, or on the Speed River with Speed River Paddling 🛶🚴‍♀️🚶‍♀️

Guelph Lake offers amazing trails for hikers and bikers of all skill-levels. Bikers can enjoy 20 + km of off-road trails, and can enjoy a relaxing ride on the Royal Recreation Trail back to Guelph’s downtown. Paddlers can bring their own watercraft or book canoe, kayak, and SUP rentals from the Grand River Rafting Company, and paddle along Guelph Lake’s pristine waters and verdant shores 🌊 Grand River Rafting Company LTD Guelph Off-Road Bicycling Association - GORBA

Rockwood Conservation Area operates their own canoe and kayak rentals, open only until September 2nd! Don’t miss this chance to paddle along the towering cliffs of Rockwood Conservation Area. Hiking Trails take you around the reservoir, along the tops of cliffs, across boardwalks through wetlands and beside big glacial potholes, too!🌲

Paddling by the Speed River is a great option too, and makes for a relaxing ride close to downtown.

Traffic and Road Closure Information:
It’s move-in weekend at the University of Guelph! Expect heavy traffic on Gordon Street between Stone Road and College Avenue, and increased traffic on University Avenue, Smith Lane and Victoria Road, particularly near U of G residence buildings. Also, some University-owned roads will be closed to the public to provide room for incoming students on Aug. 30 and 31 include: South Ring Road, East Ring Road, Dundas Lane, and Macdonald Street.
