NEW- REWARD offered by 4 local community members-$2100 for information about these two, that leads to a conviction.

This is the second year that we have reports of two young men driving around Haliburton County deliberately killing, snapping turtles, as they see them. These are two young men who tend to travel together- slightly older flat black truck (not shiny) with a bit wider tires. They have frequented Gelert Road Between’s Minden in Haliburton and Ritchie Falls… They also may be Eagle Lake road on occasions as far as we know.
If you see them, please get their license plate number and report them to us immediately - we believe we have their license plate number from earlier this year and can confirm. MNR is also looking for them. Please be on the lookout, BUT not every black truck of course, as most people are helpful and kind-
For those that deliberately harm turtles fines are up to $25,000 or one year in jail.

HELLO!!!! 🖐

We hope everyone has had an amazing summer!! 🌞🌞

We haven't posted for quite some time as life has been incredibly busy for us but we like to try activities in the area so we know what positive experiences to recommend to our visiting cottage guests.

For everyone who visits Haliburton on vacation renting EKKS Cottage (or any other cottage for that matter), we highly recommend to our guests to try parasailing with Ski-Mazing Parasail!! They also offer additional water experiences such as tubing & water skiing. 🚤🏄‍♀️🚤🏄

Thank-you to Captain Craig & boat mate Cameron for a fun morning out on the water!!

It was easy to book & a great experience & they were friendly & helpful & we found the cost to be quite reasonable :)

Rental rate is $1200 & includes cleaning, firewood, BBQ propane & use of 2 stand up paddle boards, a canoe & 2 kayaks.

EKKS Cottage is located just outside of Gooderham in beautiful Haliburton Highlands East.

We sleep up to 6 comfortably & are pet friendly. (Pet stay fee of $50).

We are only a 3 minute drive or 15 minute walk to 2 beautiful lakes (Glamor & Little Glamor) right at the end of our cottage road. There you will find 2 boat launches, a dock & a beach.

Completed rental forms & a 50% deposit is required to confirm a booking as well as a $250 returnable damage deposit (provided there is no damage).

Some more great news for EKKS Cottage & our guests!! 😁👍

I can't believe that we are allowed to open for cottage rentals earlier than expected!!

We have been busy getting the cottage in order to begin the rental season at EKKS!!🌲🌲

Lots of wildlife going on there currently.

We had 3 turtle saves on the weekend, which was amazing!! 1 was a Blandings turtle (which are threatened, so was nice to be able to help the fair size he/she off the road)!! 🐢🐢🐢🐢

Also, our Robin babies had hatched while we were not there & have already quickly gotten SO big .... I think they are ready to fly the nest very soon but still SO cute!!

A lovely poor red birdie flew into our window & was dazed & confused for a short period of time .... once he/she felt better, they flew off. Can anyone tell me what kind of bird the red one is?

Last but not least, as per usual, Glamor Lake is beautiful & awaiting our cottage guests!!

Anyway .... looking forward to cottage rental season being under way.
