Today, Nova Scotia Immigration announced at noon that the NS provincial Nominee Program will stop accepting applicants for the Accommodation and Food Service sector, NAICS code 721 and 722. The jobs in hotels, motels, resorts, motor hotels, casino hotels, b&b accmondations, housekeeping cottages and cabins, recreational and adventure camp, full-service restaurants and limit-service eating places….all are affected
There are many people affected by the policy. Being an immigration consultant can be very stressful. I need to be professional to explain the policy, and meanwhile, as an immigrant myself, it weights heavily to inform my clients that their immigration plans need to be adjusted. Some of them may not have enough time to remain in Canada while waiting for the program to reopen. If you know anyone affected by the policy, please contact us ❤️

IRCC has clarified that regardless of the duration of the graduate studies, individuals with a master's degree can directly apply for a three-year work permit. However, this provision applies specifically to master's degrees, and Graduate Certificate is excluded.

For Graduate certificate programs, the policy remains the same:

Completing one year of graduate certificate allows for a one-year Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
Combine 2 Graduate certificates makes the individual may be eligible for a three-year PGWP.

Yesterday's change about study permit and spousal open work permit news has left many people in a state of panic. We would like to offer some advice for different situations. The immigration policies are constantly changing, and it is crucial to choose a knowledgeable and reliable consultant and make timely adjustments. This article is only for informational purposes, and for specific cases, please contact us directly.
The recent changes in spouse work permits only apply to spouses of international students, and the spouses of work permit holders are not affected.
Recommended actions:
For prospective international students:
1. Consider applying for graduate programs (Master's or Ph.D.). Under the new policy, graduate students can apply for a spouse work permit. Even one-year Master's programs now qualify for a three-year work permit. After completing graduate studies, consider immigration programs in British Columbia (BC) or Ontario for graduate students.
2. When applying to colleges, consider choosing provinces that have easier immigration pathways. Although the option for spouses to work is no longer available, you can select a province with good immigration opportunities after completing your studies, such as Nova Scotia (NS). For example, NS has a category for Early Childhood Educators in the NS International graduate occupation in demand stream, allowing graduates to find employment in NS and start the immigration process. Another option is the Atlantic Immigration Pilot (AIP) program. For specific requirements, feel free to consult with us.
For those who have already submitted spouse work permit applications:
The current policy does not impact those who have already submitted spouse work permit applications. However, uncertainties regarding renewals and other details will be clarified in the coming weeks. It is advisable to plan ahead for potential changes.
For those who already hold spouse work permits:
There is no immediate impact on those who already hold spouse work permits. However, it remains uncertain whether renewals will be affected, pending the release of detailed guidelines. If renewal is affected, consider transitioning to an LMIA-based work permit or wait until the student visa holder graduates and apply for the spouse work permit alongside the post-graduation work permit.
During the period of holding a spouse work permit, accumulated work experience can be considered towards future immigration, except in provinces where spouse work permit experience is not recognized for immigration purposes, such as Alberta.

In November, we got 3 nominees under Nova Scotia skilled worker stream. This stream is invaluable as it encompasses all skill levels (teer 0-5). It mandates a full-time permanent job offer from a Nova Scotia (NS) employer and necessitates a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience, whether gained within or outside Canada. If your job falls under teer 4-5, you must already have 6 months experiences with the employer who offer you the job. It is precious compared to other score based programs. Is anybody applying under this stream? For more information, contact us

We got many approvals in November. These are the LMIA approvals. LMIA, Labor Market Impact Assessment, is a crucial step for employers supporting foreign workers in applying for work permits and permanent residency. It's noteworthy that both of our approvals are under the PR (Permanent Residency) stream, contributing an additional 50 points to the Express Entry profile for the applicants. Congratulations!
