Most sharks are cold blooded! This means their body temperature matches the water around them. 🌡️🌊
Your friendly neighbourhood Great White Shark is actually endothermic! Which means they have a regulatory system that keeps their body temperature higher than the water temperature around them. This is why Great White Sharks can be found in Canadian waters even in the later months!! 🦈❄️

Lunch Break! Check out the Jaws on this Great White Shark as it snacks on the remains of a humpback whale.
They possess a bite force of up to 1.8 tonnes, allowing them to effortlessly crush through bone and flesh. This incredible power not only highlights their role as apex predators but also showcases their vital function in the marine ecosystem - helping to recycle and maintain ecological balance.

Notice the scars on these Blue Sharks? Scars play a huge role in Shark Research in terms of identifying them and whether or not we're seeing the same shark multiple times! Bite marks on sharks can sometimes be an indicator of things like mating scars.
The photos and videos shot by Natalie Wannamaker Photography are being used by expert Marine Biologists Dr. Neil Hammerschlag, Captain Maggie Mckenna and First Mate Llewlyn Meggs to determine things like the ratios between different species, male and female and the age of the sharks. This can help determine things like birthing grounds, mating grounds and feeding grounds. This information can be used to help create protected water regions in order to help us co-exist better with the oceans ecosystems!
