BREAKING: HALIFAX ADDED TO 2026 SailGP SCHEDULE—SailGP has confirmed that Halifax, Nova Scotia, will once again host the Canada Sail Grand Prix in June 2026, as part of its newly unveiled 2026 Season. The city joins a lineup of global destinations including Perth, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, Bermuda, New York, Portsmouth, Saint-Tropez, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi. The season will span 11 months and five continents, with the full schedule of dates still to come. Halifax’s return follows what organizers describe as “unprecedented interest from cities around the world,” as the global sailing league builds on its growing popularity and consistent calendar of high-profile events.
SailGP CEO Sir Russell Coutts said, “Return venues are a pivotal aspect of SailGP's ongoing global expansion, as we strengthen our connection to new and emerging audiences.” He added that long-term agreements help the league “build an enduring legacy in the cities we visit, and become tentpole events on the local sporting calendar.” Halifax first hosted the event in 2024, drawing large crowds to the city’s waterfront and showcasing the harbour’s potential as a premier sailing venue. The 2026 edition promises more of the same, with Canada’s national team competing on home waters against a growing fleet of international contenders.
