Starting June 27, WestJet will launch nonstop service from Halifax (YHZ) to Barcelona (BCN) — a 7h 45m flight aboard a 174-seat 737 MAX 8. It’s the first time in 20+ years Halifax has had a direct flight to Spain.

The route joins WestJet’s growing Euro-MAX network and becomes one of its longest narrowbody flights. The point-to-point market is small — just 6,000 annual passengers — but WestJet’s banking on low fares, strong summer traffic, and Canada-wide connections via Toronto.

This marks WestJet’s third-ever Barcelona route, and the first time it’s flying two at once. The airline’s MAX-operated European network is now 40% Halifax-based, making Nova Scotia one of its most aggressive Atlantic jump points.
